According to the data provided by Nanning Customs on the 13th, Guangxi's foreign trade continued to improve in the first four months of 2023, with an import and export volume of 222.58 billion yuan (RMB, the same below), up 57.2% year on year. Among them, the import and export volume to ASEAN reached 104.91 billion yuan, up 123% year on year.

Among the major trading partners, the import and export volume of Guangxi to Vietnam and Thailand increased by 139% and 196% year on year respectively; The import and export volume to the League of Arab States and African countries was 16.07 billion yuan and 11.1 billion yuan respectively, with year-on-year growth rates of more than 40%. Guangxi's import and export volume to Hong Kong, China, the United States and Australia has achieved steady growth.

It is worth mentioning that with the implementation of "Class B and Class B control" for new coronavirus infection in China, Guangxi's border ports have regained vitality and border trade has accelerated its recovery. From January to April this year, Guangxi's border small trade and border trade reached 25.22 billion yuan and 13.33 billion yuan respectively, with year-on-year growth of 110.9% and 423.2% respectively.

In the first four months of this year, the import and export volume of 11 cities in Guangxi, including Chongzuo, Nanning and Fangchenggang, achieved positive growth, among which the import and export volume of Chongzuo, Baise and Hezhou doubled.

Nanning Customs believes that the rapid growth of Guangxi's foreign trade also benefits from the continuous release of the policy dividend of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP). In the first four months of this year, Guangxi's import and export to RCEP member countries reached 119.21 billion yuan, up 107.9% year on year, driving the growth of Guangxi's foreign trade by 43.7 percentage points over the same period. The import and export volume of Guangxi's electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry, chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry, and textile, clothing and apparel industry doubled.

The relevant person in charge of the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region said that next, Guangxi will continue to tap the potential of foreign trade, strengthen the organization of foreign trade sources through multiple channels, and ensure the export of new energy vehicles, lithium batteries and other key products. At the same time, we will strengthen customs clearance services, maintain the growth momentum of border trade, increase the pilot intensity of maritime exchange, and increase the number and value of imported goods.
