Framework Agreement On The Free Trade Agreement Between The Philippines And Canada
According to Reuters on August 26, the Philippines will strive for free trade in semiconductors, electronic products, clothing and agricultural products in the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations with Canada. The Deputy Minister of the Philippine Ministry of Trade and Industry Gipti said that many agricultural products, including processed foods such as cocoa, coffee, chocolate and fruit cocktails, have the potential to become high-value products. In addition to the bilateral free trade agreements between the Philippines and Canada, free trade agreements between the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates, the European Union and Chile are also in the pipeline. The Philippines also hopes to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement. At the same time, negotiations are under way on the ASEAN Canada Free Trade Agreement, the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement, the ASEAN China Free Trade Agreement and the ASEAN Trade Commodities Agreement.
