According to the Xinjiang Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics, the total cotton output of Xinjiang in 2024 will be 5.686 million tons, 574000 tons more than that in 2023, and will be stable at more than 5 million tons for many consecutive years; The proportion in the total cotton output of the country continued to rise, reaching 92.2%, a record high.

According to the Xinjiang Survey Team of the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2024, Xinjiang will continue to guide cotton production to further concentrate on advantageous production areas. The cotton planting area and output of 34 local advantageous major cotton producing counties (cities, districts) and 73 regiments (farms) of the Corps will account for more than 95% of the region. The cotton planting area reached 36.719 million mu, an increase of 1.179 million mu or 3.3% over 2023.

In addition, Xinjiang further defined 24 cotton dominant varieties and ten major technologies. On the one hand, it established a dynamic adjustment mechanism to ensure high-quality production and seed use through variety display, screening and other measures, and gradually realized variety optimization and raw cotton quality improvement; On the other hand, through the coordinated implementation of improved varieties and good laws, we will promote the implementation of water and fertilizer precision control technology, green prevention and control technology and other measures, providing a critical path for the improvement of cotton yield per unit area. In 2024, the cotton yield will reach 154.9 kg/mu, an increase of 11.0 kg/mu or 7.6% over 2023.
