India'S Government Expects Textile Exports To Grow By 15% Over The Previous Year.
The central government of India has predicted that textile exports will increase by 15% over the past year, although the export target of 2007-08 has not been completed by US $25 billion.
Under the impact of the rupee appreciation, textile exports completed only $20 billion 500 million in the last fiscal year, with an export target of $25 billion.
India textile minister Shankersinh Vaghela said that although the rupee appreciated sharply against the US dollar, its textile exports continued to grow by 10% over the previous year from 2007 to 2008.
But the appreciation rate of neighboring countries is lower than that of India.
Such as China, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
No official export target has yet been identified this year, but the government expects textile exports to rise by 15% over the previous fiscal year.
Textile Commissioner J.N. Singh said that exports increased by 8.5% in February and January. Therefore, we are optimistic about the export situation.
We think the export will be good this year.
