Australian Wool Price Index AWEX EMI Continues To Slide
This week, the Australian wool market continued to slide, and the three markets in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle fell by 1.7% on average.
AWEX EMI fell 16 Australian cents (-1.7%), at 904 Australian cents / kg. The northern market dropped 15 Australian cents (-1.6%), South market fell 15 Australian cents (-1.7%), and the relative regional index closed at 950 Australian cents and 867 Australian cents (skim wool) respectively. The western market index fell 17 Australian cents (-1.9%) to 895 Australian cents a week.
On the two trading days in Sydney and Melbourne, AWEX EMI fell 4 Australian cents on Wednesday and fell 12 Australian cents on Thursday. On the two trading day of Western Fremantle, the market index fell 10 cents on Wednesday and 7 cents on Thursday.
The reported source of goods was 55718 packs, compared with 48390 packages last week, with a pass rate of 21.7%, compared with 18.5% in Sydney, 19% in Melbourne and 30.2% in Fremantle. The passing rates of merino wool and Benkanmaw were 24.8% and 22.8% respectively, and 2962 packages (5%) were cancelled before the auction, and the re quoted wool accounted for 13.7% of the supply of goods this week.
On Monday, the US dollar fell by 1.28 from 94.47 on Wednesday. On Tuesday, it fell 0.13 Australian cents, fell 0.19 Australian cents on Wednesday, and rose 0.40 Australian cents on Thursday, closing at 93.77 Australian cents, down 1.20 Australian cents (-1.3%) from the previous paction.
It rose 0.55 euro cents (+ 0.9%) against the euro and closed at 60 euro on Thursday night. Compared with the previous trading day, according to the US dollar, AWEX EMI fell 26 Australian cents, down 5 Australian cents (-0.9%) in euros.
This week, the market continued to decline, and sheep farmers responded strongly, withdrawing 5% of the offer, passing the rate of 21.7% (including 25% on Thursday). The demand is once again weak. Good quality wool is less affected, and low quality wool is the most affected.
All wool and micron wool are soft. AWEX micron price guidance (MPGs) fell on average, 17.5 microns fell 24 Australian cents, 18 microns fell 18 Australian cents, 18.5 microns fell 19 Australian cents, 19 microns fell 10 Australian cents, 19.5 microns fell 27 Australian points. The average MPG of 20 micron wool fell 24 Australian cents (degreased), 21 microns fell 24 Australian cents, 22 microns fell 11 Australian cents, 23 microns fell 5 Australian cents, 24 microns fell 12 Australian cents.
Benkanmaw's condition is the same as that of unsheared wool. The lower grade varieties are more affected, while the higher grade wool is less affected.
Broken wool continued to fall, and the average GPG value of the United States fell 17 Australian cents. The situation is the same as last week. The miscellaneous hairs were relatively unaffected, and the fine hair fell slightly, while the average gross MPG increased by 1-3 Australian cents.
Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle will continue trading next week. The number of registered auctions is 52287 bales. At present, it is estimated that the sales volume will be 45950-51060 packages next Wednesday, which will be reduced by 6.6% compared with the four trading days in the same period last year.
In South Africa, the Cape wool index fell by 6.8% compared with the previous trading day. Rand's appreciation of the US dollar was 5% and 1.9% against the euro.
