Upgrading Traditional Industry Level And Developing Green Tannery Industry

All along, the tannery industry in our city has serious environmental pollution. The water environment in the Oujiang River Basin and the urban area is seriously polluted. The living environment of nearly one million people in Ouhai and Lucheng has also been damaged to a certain extent.

This situation has aroused widespread concern of CPPCC members such as Wu Yongguang, who participated in the "two sessions" in our district.

The leather industry is one of the characteristics of Wenzhou's economy. There are more than 2000 enterprises and more than 50 enterprises with an annual output value exceeding 10 million yuan. Its main products are cattle leather, pig leather and synthetic leather.

These enterprises are mainly concentrated in the urban area of Wenzhou.

According to incomplete statistics, there are 256 leather making enterprises in Lucheng in 2005, and more than 100 in Qu Xi and Guo Xi in Ouhai. The total annual output is 10 million or more, and the annual output value is over 7 billion.

Leather industry is supporting the development of Wenzhou's shoes and clothing, sofa, bags and other industries.

Most of the existing tanning enterprises are resources, high energy consumption and heavy environmental pollution, which belong to "small tanning" enterprises that need to be eliminated by the state regulations.

So what shall we do? I will investigate and consider from the angle of environmental protection. Last year, the task of saving energy and reducing emissions is heavier. Wu Yongguang, a member of the CPPCC National Committee, suggested that we should upgrade the level of traditional industries, develop the green tannery industry, do our best to adjust the leather industry structure and upgrade the industrial level so as to reduce pollution to a minimum.

He suggested that a plan should be drawn up to choose a site with superior sewage discharge and less surrounding residents to reorganize the leather base and build a green tanning demonstration garden.

We should actively introduce advanced technology and talents to achieve the whole process of energy saving and emission reduction from raw materials to final products processing, and fundamentally enhance the level of Harmless Technology in leather making industry, so as to realize the standardization, innocuity and cleanliness of tannery industry.
