In 2007, the export volume of footwear products in Sichuan amounted to US $265 million, an increase of 53 times compared with 2000.

In the 1-7 month of this year, the export price of Sichuan shoes increased by 1.4 times, exports of 200 million US dollars, and high-speed growth by 57.3%.

The footwear industry is one of the key industrial clusters in Sichuan province. Sichuan footwear industry is mainly concentrated in Chengdu, Chengdu footwear industry has formed billions of industrial clusters, and exports account for 95% of the total footwear exports of the province. Footwear products have become one of Chengdu's most distinctive export products.

As of 2008, there were more than 2000 shoemaking enterprises in the city and more than 3000 shoe materials supporting enterprises.

At present, the footwear industry of the whole country is gradually forming a large pattern of "three states, one city" in Guangzhou, Wenzhou, Quanzhou and Chengdu.

It is understood that, in order to further form an influential global footwear industry system service platform, this year, the procurement festival will add new "shoe machine, shoe material exhibition" and "finished shoes exhibition". The original single product display will gradually extend to the upstream and downstream, and will be pformed into an industrial chain display to promote the overall competitiveness of the entire Sichuan industrial chain.

At the same time, the world footwear industry (Chengdu) forum will be held in the same period during the procurement festival to discuss the three themes of "gradient pfer of footwear industry in the context of globalization", "how to expand the high-end consumer goods market in China" and "Sino Russian economic and trade development and security logistics". Through the international procurement Festival, this platform will co-ordinate resources and dredge channels to promote the overall upgrading of Sichuan footwear industry.

The first international luxury exhibition in Western China will be officially unveiled in the procurement Festival. The world's top brands from 38 well-known shoe companies from the world will be exhibiting. In 2006, Wuhou District, Chengdu, won the "country of women's shoes in China". The Chengdu women's shoes quickly became famous at home and abroad. Chengdu shoe making enterprises, with the core of Wuhou shoe area, now produce 200 million pairs of women's shoes, ranking third in the country.

So far, Chengdu women's shoes have been sold to 120 countries and regions in the world, with an annual export volume of US $150 million, an increase of 192% over the same period last year.

In this regard, Chiang Kai Shek, a consultant of the Sichuan provincial government, commented that "the earthquake has an impact on the footwear industry in Sichuan, but it is not serious. The footwear industry in Sichuan still has vigorous vitality."

Therefore, holding the international procurement festival will not only actively promote the pfer of footwear industry, but also promote the economic development of Sichuan after the disaster.
