As a leading industry in Yiwu, the seamless garment industry started in the late 90s of last century. After more than 10 years of development, the industry realized about 5000000000 yuan in 2006, accounting for 80% of the total output and 15% of the world's total output.

Nevertheless, the seamless garment industry in Yiwu is lagging behind the international advanced level in terms of technology and innovation ability, which has restricted the further upgrading of the industry.

In order to solve the shortage of technology, in September 2007, under the bridging of the municipal economic development board and the science and Technology Bureau, the seamless garment industry association of Yiwu organized the establishment of the seamless garment technology research center of the city of Italy. It brought together the textile professionals of Italy Saint FAVARDIO STUDIO research and development center, Italy Milan professional seamless garment designer, Shanghai Donghua University and other institutions of higher learning and scientific research institutes, and the world's top raw material developers, focusing on the industry's independent innovation capability.

"In a short period of half a year, they have made great achievements. At the beginning of this year, Yiwu seamless garment science and technology research center passed the inspection of the provincial science and technology department and became the first provincial-level regional science and technology innovation service center in Yiwu."

The director of Yiwu Economic Development Bureau said that the enhancement of independent innovation ability greatly enhanced the core competitiveness of Yiwu seamless knitting.

Relying on market development, the manufacturing industry in Yiwu involves almost all the daily necessities, such as knitted socks, garments and a number of advantageous industries, which are "born in the city", and have formed 10 state-level industrial bases such as zippers, pens, cosmetics, socks, clothing, handicrafts, jewelry and so on.

With the development of manufacturing cluster, the capability of independent innovation of enterprises is weak, the overall level of industry is not high, and the core competitiveness is not strong.

Data show that the proportion of R & D expenditure in Yiwu accounts for less than 0.4% of the total sales revenue, and the total expenditure on technology development in the city is only 11 among the 14 economically strong counties.

In view of the weak current situation of enterprises' independent innovation capability, the municipal economic development board has formulated the catalogue of Yiwu's manufacturing industry oriented industry, upgraded and promoted traditional industries, vigorously encouraged and developed the equipment manufacturing industry, accelerated the construction of enterprise technology centers, and guided enterprises to enhance their own R & D capability.

At the beginning of May, the municipal economic development board has initially completed the formulation of the directory of industrial enterprises. The first draft of the Yiwu industrial industry oriented catalogue has also been sent to the enterprises for comments.

The guidance catalogue of industrial enterprises clearly points out the industries and projects that encourage development, allow development, restrict development and prohibit and eliminate development. It can optimize the allocation of resources, promote enterprise innovation, guide enterprises to pfer to benign investment direction, and ensure that the industry is scientific and reasonable.

Since the beginning of this year, the municipal economic development board has actively guided enterprises to increase investment and attach importance to technological innovation.

In 1-6 months, 91 technical renovation projects were registered in Yiwu. Enterprises declared 2 key technical innovation projects in the province, 3 items in the technical barriers to trade, 1 key high-tech projects in the province, 9 new product projects at the provincial level, and 1 items in the province's information projects.

In actively guiding enterprises to declare the provincial technology center, the economic development board also launched the construction of Yiwu Municipal Technology Center for the first time.

This year, Yiwu has declared 2 provincial-level technology centers, and clockwork, garland, Xinguang, Jin Hong and other 4 enterprises have been selected as the first batch of Yiwu Yiwu enterprise technology centers.
