Retail Sales In Central London Run Counter To The Trend.
According to a recent two-point survey, retail sales in central London are running counter to the national trend.
Central London store business is booming, and the economic downturn is affecting retail sales in other parts of the country.
In June, retail sales in central London increased by 8.7% compared to June last year, compared with 0.4% in the UK, according to the BRC.
Large discount stores are pulling London's summer sales, and the euro is strong enough to attract more European tourists to the capital for shopping. Gasoline prices are rising. Local consumers think that driving to shopping outside the city is not cost-effective.
Fashion and shoes benefit from big sale, BRC said.
The second survey was completed by the Research Institute Springboard, which is almost the same as the first report.
The report showed that sales of Oxford street, Regent street and Bond Street increased by 6.6% last month compared with the first 12 months.
On the contrary, sales in some regional towns and cities decreased by 1.3% compared with the same period last year.
Stephen Robertson, chairman of BRC, said London's retail industry was booming.
The mentality of consumers in central London is markedly different from that in other parts of the United Kingdom.
The number of shoppers outside London has been reduced due to tight budgets and weak consumer confidence.
In recent months, the cost of gasoline has spirally increased, and the cost of gasoline has increased by 18% per 50 liters, which has hit a large regional commercial street. Shoppers are reluctant to drive to large commercial streets.
But 96% of the Western consumers use common pportation.
There is a huge gap between western London and other parts of the UK.
Chain store sales dropped sharply, but sales of large shopping malls on Oxford Street continued to expand.
Sales are very good in summer, and now it's two weeks away from the end of summer sales.
Many consumers seem reluctant to drive to shopping centers outside the city.
