The US Textile Organization Is Opposed To Free Trade Negotiations With Vietnam.
At a hearing on free trade negotiations with the TPP, the National Textile Organization Committee (NCTO) opposed the signing of a free trade agreement with Vietnam, which said the textile industry opposes any free trade agreement, including the agreement signed with Vietnam. NCTO urged the Obama administration to overturn the free trade agreement proposed by the Bush administration, including a free trade agreement with Vietnam.
NCTO President Cass Johnson said Vietnam is a non market economy, and the non market economy has always been regarded as an economic threat to the manufacturing enterprises and workers in the United States.
Because the government controls or affects the economic foundation organization, may change the resources, cuts the US economy, forces the American enterprise to withdraw from the market. In addition, Vietnam is still a communist country without the right to assemble, free press or democratic elections. Why did the United States sign a free trade agreement with Vietnam? Johnson pointed out that since Vietnam joined the WTO in 2007, the United States has not enjoyed the benefits that the Bush administration has promised. On the contrary, US government data show that the trade balance between Vietnam and Vietnam has greatly deteriorated.
In just two years, the trade deficit with Vietnam increased by US $2 billion 700 million, or 35%, to 101, a record high in the US dollar. Vietnam's exports of textiles and clothing increased by 2 billion US dollars, or 60%, while the US textile and garment industry lost 97000 jobs.
