Zhou Ji, Minister of education, said that the establishment of skills competition for vocational colleges is a major system design and innovation in China's education.

Our province decided to hold secondary vocational school skills competition every year from 2009, and form a long-term mechanism on a regular basis. This indicates that the system design of "general education has the college entrance examination and vocational skills competition" has basically taken shape.

The secondary vocational education skills competition is known as the "Olympic competition of vocational education" by the industry.
