The Consumption Market Of French Shoe Industry Is Relatively Stable.
According to the French "textile daily" reported that France is Europe's largest consumer of shoes, the market is active. In recent years, the market has been beset by some problems, especially the impact of the current economic crisis. Sales fell last year, but sales were growing, up to 6 billion 700 million euros.
According to statistics from the Federation of French footwear industry, in 2008, the number of shoes purchased by women in French cities was the highest, with an average of 6 pairs (excluding sports shoes, summer shoes and indoor shoes), a slight decrease of 0.5 points compared with 2005, which is twice the total consumption of men. Last year, men's shoes consumed 3.6 pairs of people per capita and 3.9 pairs in 2005.
Although sales declined, sales value of ladies shoes increased by 4.1% and men's shoes increased by 2.6%. The difference was mainly from the marketing structure. The dominant market of men's shoes accounted for 37% of sports goods stores, while 23% of women bought shoes to major retail stores. But since 2005, more and more women have been buying them in chain stores, and the proportion reached 20% last year.
The report said that women's demand for shoes reduced the price of shoes, and also affected the price of men's shoes. There are some indications that the reduction of prices may bring the opposite result. Traditionally, if women buy more shoes every year, men will not hesitate to buy one more pair of shoes. This phenomenon has lasted for 3 years. Between 2005 and 2008, the demand for men increased by 13%, while the demand for women increased by 8% over the same period.
