Good Use Of Paste, Drag And Placement Tools In Word2007
The "object" tool on the Word2007 "insert" function area is not the only way to locate document objects.
Two other tools are dragging and placing, and the clipboard can also be used.
In fact, most user discoverers are better at dragging and dropping methods when dealing with existing files.
First, drag from the file system.
To insert existing filesystem objects into the Word2007 document, open the Windows explorer to locate the location of the object (file) to be used.
If you can, open the two window to view the source and target simultaneously.
Use the right mouse button (soon to know the reason) to drag and drop objects in the Windows Explorer window to the Word2007 document.
Note that moving to this location is a pseudo option when dragging objects in the file system to Word2007.
If you choose "move", Word2007 will copy.
That is to say, the actual options at this time are "copy to this location" and "create hyperlinks here".
Selecting the latter, Word2007 creates a standard hyperlink to the object.
When you press the Ctrl key in Word2007 and click the hyperlink, the default program associated with this file type will be opened to display, play, edit and process the file.
For many users, the use of hyperlink options is better than using the "Insert Object" method, because the results obtained by hyperlinks are easier to identify.
Two. Drag from other open programs.
When using the left mouse button to drag in an editable window (such as other Word2007 windows, open PPT2007 documents or writing boards), what happens will be related to the contents selected and dragged.
1. drag text
If the text is dragged, its default behavior is "move" to the target location.
Therefore, it is strongly recommended that the standard default drag action is done with the right mouse button.
Even if you really want to move text, you'd better know the exact information.
One or two other options often occur when the content of one Word2007 document is moved to another Word2007 document using the right mouse button.
Please pay attention to these two relative options: shortcut and hyperlink.
If you choose "shortcut," Word2007 inserts the OLE LINK bookmark in the source file and contains the reference to the file name and the exact location of the LINK domain it creates in the target document.
The object in the target document is the Word2007 object (using the Word icon), which can double-click it to open the source location.
If you select hyperlinks, you insert HTML/XML type bookmarks in the source document.
The HYPERLINK domain will be inserted into the target document and the first 255 characters, including spaces, will be displayed as hyperlinks.
Then you can hold down the Ctrl key and click the hyperlink to display the source.
The result of the two option is similar, but the function in the target document is slightly different. Which way to use depends on whether it can provide the desired functions and effects.
2. drag other objects
What happens when dragging other objects depends mainly on the program and the degree of drag and drop supported by the program.
What you want to happen does not always happen even if the source program is other Office2007 programs.
For example, if you try to drag the graph in PPT2007 to Word2007, the result may surprise you.
In spite of the dragging - finally, drag pointer is displayed in Word2007, but drag and drop actually occurs in the PPT window! This causes confusion and destruction, so Ctrl+Z revocation operation can only be used.
If you drag the graphics in Internet Explorer or other non text objects into Word2007, the results are usually correct.
However, please remember to use the right mouse button to drag.
The left mouse button drag will not work.
On the other hand, because the main display window of Internet Explorer is not an edit window (most), there is no need to worry that the content on their WEB location will move to the Word2007 window.
And when dragging from Internet Explorer, the mouse pointer will become a "duplicate" pointer.
Three, paste alternative method
If you are not familiar with drag and drop operations, you can use another alternative to copy and paste.
For those programs that do not support dragging, such as Excel2007 (for it, dragging cells is selected instead of dragging), copy and paste are the only way.
Select the required items with the support function of the source program, right-click the selected content, and select Copy to copy the item to the clipboard.
When moving to the Word2007 document, click the location where you want to place the contents of the clipboard.
If the result is correct, click the "paste" tool or press Ctrl+V; if not very sure, in the "clipboard" group of the "start" function area, click the arrow under the paste tool to select the "paste paste" option.
The list of options appears mainly because of the nature of the selected item and the source program.
In addition, the default operation is HTML format, as shown in the figure.
Note that the top option is Microsoft Office Word document object.
We don't know if this option is the most useful, or is the HTML format the most useful.
