    This year, the exhibition has moved to Beijing to join the CHIC. What is the main purpose of this exhibition?


    Lu Xican: to promote textile between China and South Korea

    The cooperation and exchange of industries. Since 2003, the Federation of Korean fiber industry has organized South Korean enterprises to hold a Korean fashion textile every year in Shanghai.

    The success of the exhibition is to promote South Korea's textile industry.

    Clothing products quickly landed in China and played a positive role.

    Before 2003, there were only 20 Korean clothing brands in the Chinese market, and 20 new Korean clothing brands entered China every year after 2003.

    Up to now, there are more than 3000 shopping malls running Korean clothing brands in China.

    With the development of economy and the need of developing North China market, Korean fashion enterprises hope to develop more agents.

    Business, stationing shopping centers, franchising and other distribution channels to build a new China market strategy.


    CHIC has been successfully held for the 17 time. From the scale of the exhibition, the number of exhibitors and visibility, it can be regarded as the most representative first-class exhibition in Asia.

    Therefore, I think Korean clothing enterprises to participate in CHIC is a key step for Korean clothing brand to develop the Chinese market.

    This is also the main reason why we moved to Shanghai in to take part in the CHIC exhibition.


    Reporter: most of the exhibitors in the Korean Pavilion are small and medium-sized enterprises.

    What positive effects will CHIC take on the brand establishment of these enterprises in the Chinese market?


    Lu Xican: at present, the Korean clothing brands such as Eland and EXR have entered the Chinese market. They also gradually opened the Chinese market by participating in the Korean fashion and Textile Exposition held in Shanghai.

    Many small and medium-sized clothing and fashion companies in South Korea have long been eager to enter China.

    These enterprises have excellent design and development capabilities, but lack of marketing ability makes it difficult to enter the Chinese market.

    Therefore, these enterprises are eager to get more information on China market by joining CHIC, and through the CHIC platform and Chinese well-known brands and agents.

    We will conduct more in-depth exchanges and create more business opportunities.


    Reporter: in recent years, Korean garment enterprises have intensified their efforts to expand the Chinese market, and the Chinese market has also had a wave of "Han Feng".

    How do you look at the future of Sino Korean trade in textiles and clothing?


    Lu Xi can: in 2009, South Korea imported textiles and clothing from China to US $4 billion 100 million and exported.

    Textiles and clothing to China are US $2 billion 300 million.

    Despite the deficit of more than a billion dollars in South Korea, we are still very optimistic about the Chinese market in the future.

    After the outbreak of the financial crisis, in order to pform the mode of economic growth and expand domestic demand, the Chinese government introduced a series of policies to expand domestic demand, thus making China's economic growth rate reach 8.7% in 2009.

    Following the successful hosting of the Olympic Games in Beijing, Shanghai will host World Expo this year, and the eyes of the whole world will be invested in China.

    Korean clothing enterprises recognize that the brand awareness of the Chinese market will represent the brand recognition of the world market. Therefore, we pay more attention to the fashion of the world than ever before.

    Reporter: at present, what is the biggest problem in the development of Korean textile and garment industry? What is the work done by the Federation of fiber industry in guiding the development of the industry?


    Lu Xican: Recently, the Korean textile fashion industry is facing many difficulties.

    In terms of internal factors, the manufacturing cost of Korean labor force and labor cost increase year by year. The external factors are mainly intensified competition in the international textile and garment market.

    In the face of such a situation, the Federation of Korean fiber industry is committed to guiding enterprises to readjust their industrial structure and pform from the low price products produced by OEM to the production of high value-added products, and establish the production basis of new fibers such as microfibers, nanofibers, smart fibers and organic fibers.

    Secondly, we should enhance cooperation in the whole garment industry from fabric to finished products, and promote the maximization of synergy in industrial chain.

    Third, we are committed to training professional and technical personnel by making full use of the marketing capabilities of free trade agreements with countries (FTA).

    Fourth, to expand the overseas market of fashion brands, actively support Korean enterprises to participate in overseas exhibitions including CHIC.


    Reporter: in recent years, the exchanges between Chinese and Korean textile and garment industry have deepened. What areas do you think the two countries can further cooperate in the future?


    Lu Xi can: in 1991, the import and export of textiles and clothing between China and South Korea

    Total trade amounted to $970 million.

    In 2009, the total volume of textile trade between the two countries reached 6 billion 400 million US dollars, achieving a leap of 6.6 times.

    At the same time, China has become the largest market for overseas investment in the Korean textile industry.

    Not only that, clothing imports from China account for 70% of the total imports of Korean clothing.

    Compared with other industries, the textile industry between China and South Korea has maintained closer cooperation.

    In the long run, China will gradually grow from the past world garment producing countries to the world's largest consumer market and the center of the Asian fashion industry.

    Chinese enterprises will also make further efforts to create more internationally known clothing brands.

    In the process, I believe the Chinese and Korean garment industry will also carry out more and more extensive cooperation.
