The clothing specialty of Wuhan University of Science and Engineering was founded in 1987 (formerly the clothing department of Wuhan Textile Institute of technology, and together with the textile department in 1999, it is one of the earliest clothing disciplines established by national universities).

In 1994, we began to recruit undergraduates. In 1998, clothing art and design became the key subjects in Hubei province. It is the first brand specialty of Hubei Province, and is also one of the first schools to receive master's degree conferring power.

Fashion Institute was established in May 2004.

The Institute adheres to the path of innovation and development, takes the arts as the foundation, takes engineering as the background, takes social needs as the guidance, pays attention to practice and pays attention to the market. By 2003, it has won the national "new person Award" and "Education Award" for five consecutive years. It has been ranked first in the comprehensive score for six consecutive years.

In September 2004, in Qingdao, twelve famous clothing colleges and universities held the invitation contest of costume design, and the works of She Xin, our college student, won the first prize of the "beautiful cup".

Nearly 2000 college students have been trained and praised by employers and the society.

Wang Hongying, the 96 grader of fashion design, was named "the top ten" fashion designer in 2000. In October 2003, he represented the Chinese young designer to the "Chinese culture year" to hold a special fashion show for his country, winning honor for his alma mater.

There are more than 1250 undergraduates.

More than 40 faculty members, including 2 professors, 12 associate professors, 2 PhD candidates, and 3 PhD students.

Undergraduate education has eight professional and professional directions: fashion design and engineering, fashion art design, fashion art design and trade, knitwear design, shoes and hat and accessories design, image design, fashion design and performance, advertising and performance.

Costume design has the right to grant master's degree, and the right to grant master's degree in costume design and engineering is being declared.

The field of preponderant subject areas has achieved initial success. The clothing digital research center has been set up. It has clothing CAD/CAM system, 3D body measurement system, digital printing system, single tailored single volume system.

The area of the laboratory is nearly more than 2000 square meters.

In recent years, the Institute has vigorously carried out academic exchanges and cooperation with other countries, and has established cooperative relations with many universities and enterprises in the United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Hongkong and many other universities in China. It has invited Professor Victor, a member of the Russian Academy of natural sciences and a professor of national science and technology, as a special professor of clothing in 2002.

Professor Victor's joining has added new vitality to the development of clothing discipline.
