FTA Opens China Market For Indonesian Shoe Products
Indonesia's English newspaper "Jakarta post" published a comment on the 19 day, saying that Indonesia needs China more in bilateral relations between China and Indonesia.
The signature article says Indonesia should try to make itself better from the China ASEAN Free Trade Area.
For Indonesia, free trade with China is the most effective driving force to enhance the country's international competitiveness.
The article says that the FTA has opened the Chinese market for Indonesia, and Indonesia's exports of tin, cocoa, rubber, shoes, pulp and musical instruments also have a larger share in the Chinese market.
Indonesia's traditional overseas market is shrinking, while the Chinese market is expanding. Last year, China has become Indonesia's third largest export market.
Indonesia's export growth to China means that its competitiveness in the Chinese market has improved. It also means that the competitiveness of Indonesian commodities in the world market has been improved.
At the end of the article, trade imbalance is a normal phenomenon in Global trade. Indonesia's trade deficit with China is not a worry.
The country maintained a trade surplus with China between 1999 and 2007.
After the launch of the FTA, Indonesia is expected to regain its trade surplus with China in the first two months of this year.
