Attention Should Be Paid To The Two Methyl Fumarate To Export Shoes And Furniture To The EU.

　　 Guangdong Zhongshan inspection and Quarantine Bureau, on the 20 day, reminded the mainland of China that enterprises exporting shoes and furniture to the EU must pay attention to the content of methyl esters of fumaric acid, and should not exceed the standard of the two methyl fumarate.

According to the Zhongshan inspection and Quarantine Bureau responsible person, recently, the European Union issued the 2010/153/EU Committee resolution, the fumaric acid two methyl ester ban will be extended for a year, that is extended to March 15, 2011.

Fumaric acid two methyl ester has a strong bactericidal effect, can inhibit more than 30 kinds of common bacteria, yeasts and molds, is widely used in leather, footwear, textiles, bamboo and wood products and other industrial products sterilization and anti mold treatment. However, excessive use can cause skin allergies, rashes or burns.

In 2009, the European Union issued a ban on the over standard content of two methyl fumarate. So far, the footwear and toy products in the mainland of China have been recalled due to the excessive content of the substance. Now, the further prolongation of the ban will have a more permanent impact on the related export trade in the mainland of China.

According to the statistics of Zhongshan inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the footwear products exported to the EU in 2009 were increased by 7.2% in the area under the jurisdiction of the Bureau, which increased by 7.2% compared with the same period last year. The export of EU furniture products was 50 million 532 thousand and 300 US dollars, an increase of 61.8% compared with the same period last year, while the clothing exported to the EU reached US $444 million, an increase of 48.6% over the same period last year. If these products contain two methyl fumarate products and exceed the standard, they will cause the whole batch of products to be returned or recalled, and the enterprises will suffer losses.

To this end, Zhongshan inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminded the relevant export enterprises: strengthen monitoring and control, in the supply contract with the raw material suppliers, the content of methyl fumarate should be included in the scope of the contract monitoring. If necessary, suppliers should be provided with the relevant certificate that does not contain two methyl fumarate. In the daily production process, the desiccant and mould inhibitor should be sent to the sample to ensure that the product meets the EU directive two. Of course, the most thorough way is to use environmentally-friendly desiccant and mildew preventive agents, or adopt more advanced physical mildew prevention measures, such as using environmental mildew proof paper and mould proof bags to combat microbiological hazards.
