Nike Launches "Low Carbon Environmental Protection" National Team Jersey
A number of top global players including Kors Tiano Ronaldo (Cristiano Ronaldo), Robinho (Robinho) and Park Ji-Sung (Ji-sung Park) will be on the South African arena this summer wearing the most environmentally friendly and state-of-the-art jerseys in football history. All the national teams sponsored by Nike (including Brazil, Portugal and Holland) will be wearing a full Jersey made of recycled polyester for the first time, with eight recycled plastic bottles for each Jersey. Nike has launched a new national team jersey from several soccer players at a global media event in Battersea Power Station, London.
Nike brand President Charlie Denson said: "this summer, by providing the latest and most innovative products for the greatest players in the world cup in South Africa, Nike will provide an advantage for soccer players. According to today's announcement, we are equipping sportsmen with newly designed garments, which are not only beautiful in appearance and superior in performance, but also make use of recycled materials to reduce the environmental impact.
To make the 2010 national costume, Nike's fabric suppliers collected waste plastic bottles from garbage dumps in Japan and Taiwan, and then melted them to produce new yarns. Finally, these new yarns were transformed into jersey fabrics.
This process saves raw materials and reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared with the production of new polyester. By using recycled polyester to produce its latest series of national jerseys, Nike blocked nearly 13 million plastic bottles (totaling about 254000 kilograms of polyester garbage) into the dump. These bottles are enough to cover more than 29 football fields. If the recycling bottles used for making jerseys end to end, they will be able to be as long as more than 3000 kilometers, which is longer than the entire coastline of South Africa.
This series of national team costumes is an important step in making Nike products more sustainable.
In addition, the design of clothing for all national teams takes into account the culture and characteristics of different countries. Nike knows the proud experience of athletes for national competitions, so each design of the Jersey embodies the tradition and unique football culture of the nine national teams.
Jersey innovation
Taking into account the environment does not mean sacrificing the innovative performance elements of Nike clothing. For the final this summer, the design of these jerseys is designed to make the players' body more dry and comfortable, so that they can keep the best body temperature and perform the best performance on the golf course.
The improved Nike Dri-Fit fabric now loses 15% of its weight compared with the previous Nike fabric. It helps the players keep the body dry by sweating clothing and evaporating. Each side of the Jersey is provided with a ventilation area to enhance air permeability, and the Jersey also combines a fabric that increases air flow by up to 7% more than that of the previous garment. Now airflow can pass through the whole body of a player and make it more dry. These ventilation areas consist of up to 200 minimal laser cutting holes, which are supported by Nike's innovative aura application. This process prevents tear and does not reduce airflow.
The Nike shorts will also set up more ventilation areas below the belt and near the base of the spine, so the area that is usually sweating will now dry a lot.
The new double-sided knitted fabric is not only more fashionable but also 10% more fashionable than the previous Nike national team, and the new dynamic tailoring is more consistent with the natural contour of the body, while still achieving maximum airflow and movement.
Players will also integrate the unique advantages of Nike ro ombat into their respective national team costumes. Pro ombat has a clothing design system that includes Slider and Impact shorts that enhance lightweight impact and abrasion protection, as well as thermal Mock that prevents the player from suffering from harsh conditions.
In the South African arena, Nike's new national team jersey includes Brazil, Holland, Portugal, the United States, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Serbia and Slovenia.
The national team jersey and home court jersey will be listed in February 25th and May 1st respectively. They will be sold through local Nike stores, as well as nike.com and nikefootball.com.
