10 New National Standards Of Clothing Began To Be Implemented

From the national garment Standardization Technical Committee, we have learned that since January 1, 2010, the 10 national standards of clothing, such as men's suits, overcoats, women's suits, overcoats, western trousers and neckties, have been formally implemented.

Many standards are the first time for the pH value, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes and formaldehyde and other specific requirements, not only more consistent with the requirements of safety performance than before, but also will play a positive role in promoting and protecting China's clothing trade.

It is understood that 6 of the 10 GB standards are newly formulated standards and 4 are revised standards.

Among them, "clothing rainproof performance requirements", "coating clothing moisture resistance technical requirements", "requirements and testing methods for antistatic performance of work clothes", "woven hot-melt adhesive lining" and "woven student clothes" are released for the first time, which will play a normative and guiding role in the production practice of their respective products.

The technical content of necktie has been revised and upgraded from the industry standard to the national standard, so as to further standardize the tie market in China.

In addition, "clothing size children", "men's suits and overcoats", "women's suits, overcoats" and "western trousers" are the important basic standards and product standards of the clothing industry in China. They are the important basis for regulating and guiding the production and sale of clothing in China. After revision, they will play a positive role in promoting and protecting the clothing trade in China.

Reporters noted that "men's suits, overcoats", "women's suits, overcoats", "western trousers", "tie" and other new national standards, have made clear requirements for pH value, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes and formaldehyde and other indicators.

As a revised standard, men's suits, overcoats, women's suits, overcoats and western trousers have added new requirements for pH value, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes or formaldehyde and odor.

According to the requirements of the national standard "basic safety technical specifications for National Textiles", clothing is divided into three categories: A, B and C. Class A is for infants and young children, B is for direct contact with skin, C is for non direct contact with skin, formaldehyde content of three products is not higher than 20mg /Kg, 75 mg/Kg and 300 mg/Kg, pH value is 4 ~ 7.5, 4 ~ 7.5 and 4 to 9, and can not smell bad.

Zhou Xinwen, a young scholar and a Ph.D. in chemistry, told reporters that the pH value of the normal human skin is about 4.5 to 6.5.

Popularly speaking, the pH value of the skin is the skin glands secreted by the skin and the skin layer formed by sebum, which is attached to the skin. It has a good protective effect on the skin, prevents bacteria from invading, and prevents dry skin and gives skin elasticity.

If the pH value of clothing is too high, it will irritate the skin and even cause skin infection.

If skin is exposed to formaldehyde for a long time, it will make the skin dry. Its solution may cause dermatitis, itchy skin and other symptoms.

It is reported that, compared with the original standard, "men's suits, overcoats", "women's suits and overcoats" are required to increase the pH value, decompose carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes, peculiar smell and other requirements, such as dimensional change rate and tear strength after washing.

In addition, the new GB also revised the scope of application of the standard, supplemented the contents of the normative citation documents and product instructions, revised the contents of the appearance defects, the slippage examination requirements, the quality defects of the finished products and the judging contents of the single appearance, and increased the color fastness to soaping, the color fastness to moisture and rubbing, the color fastness to water, and the assessment requirements for the fastness to light and so on.

The new national standard of "trousers" not only modified the standard name, increased the pH value, decomposed carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes, odor and other regulations, but also revised the technical requirements of chromatic aberration, appearance defects and sewing, and increased the requirements such as soap fastness, water resistance, sweat resistance, moisture resistance and light fastness, and the requirements of washing size change rate, washing twist and tear strength.

After the rise of the industry standard to the national standard, the national standard of the tie has paid more attention to the health of the products, and the mandatory assessment requirements for the formaldehyde content, the pH value, the odor and the decomposable aromatic amine dye are added to the necktie finished products.

The national standard also emphasizes that the specifications of necktie products must be marked in centimeters, so that buyers can clearly understand the size of the necktie they bought.

Zhou Xinwen pointed out that decomposable aromatic amine is a kind of dye, and some producers add it to textile products in order to reduce cost and increase the colourful degree of textile, and this dye is not only easily absorbed by human body, but also easy to induce lesions.
