Ecological Restoration Of Water Environment In Expo 2010

On the afternoon of May 27th, the "eco Expo: the ecological restoration of the water environment of the World Expo" hosted by the Information Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's government, "perception Shanghai", was held in Expo Park.

Tongji University professor Yang Jian, Xu Jingcheng, Dr. Lu Zhibo, East China Normal University professor Xu Ya, Shanghai Ocean University professor Zhang Yinjiang respectively introduced the ecological restoration and landscape construction projects of Bailian Jing, Expo site artificial landscape water and post Beach Park, and participated closely with journalists who felt the water environment of World Expo people in Shanghai.

Building on the water is an important feature of World Expo stadium in Shanghai. Building a safe, beautiful and ecological water environment in the Expo is an important aspect of achieving "eco Expo and Technology Expo".

In view of the fact that the original natural landscape river in the Expo site is affected by the coastal life and industrial pollution sources and the pollution is more serious, experts from Shanghai and Shanghai universities will make use of the ecological restoration technology in the planning and construction of the Expo site to create the characteristic landscape of the Expo site featuring the integration of water and green, ecological harmony, good size and pleasant environment.

In particular, the technology of ecological restoration is to pfer, pform and degrade pollutants in water by means of cultivated plants or cultured and inoculated microorganisms, so as to purify the water body and realize the ecological safety of water bodies.

As the only natural river linking the Huangpu River in the Expo Garden, the water quality and landscape of Bailian Jing are directly related to the overall image of Shanghai's Expo Park.

According to the water quality and hydrological condition of Bailian River, combined with the requirements of landscape construction in the World Expo area, experts have targeted the use of floating aquatic plants on floating islands, using ecological floating island technology to absorb and pform pollutants in water bodies, and softening the hard revetments, thereby adjusting the ecological environment and lowering the temperature of the ecological wall.

The whole restoration project extends from ylin Luqiao in the Expo site to Liuliqiao outside the Expo Park, with a total length of more than 2000 meters.

In the long run, ecological restoration works can not only create beautiful landscape effects, but also provide habitat and attachment for birds, aquatic animals and microbes, thus constructing a complete aquatic ecosystem.

Practice has proved that the carbon fixation of aquatic plants and the ability of ecological system to purify water are better, and the quality of water bodies can be improved by more than one level. Biodiversity has been greatly improved, and the ecological function of rivers has been restored to some extent.

In view of the potential problems of the artificial landscape water in the Expo area, the experts analyzed the influence of the natural conditions such as water area, water distance, vegetation greening and wind on the temperature and humidity in the waterfront area through on-site investigation and monitoring of the surrounding waterfront environment of various landscape waters, and built an evaluation model of human comfort for the waterfront environment, which was applied to the planning and design of the artificial landscape water body in the park.

In addition, through the artificial landscape water ecological conservation technology and biological purification technology, the health status of the water body in the Expo Garden is maintained, making it an important part of the urban ecology.

The beach park is located on the Huangpu River in Pudong's original beach area. The park uses the principle of water ecology and landscape ecology, combines the location and hydrology and climate characteristics of Huangpu River with the "double beach harmonic generation" as the structural medium. Through the integration of manual control and natural regulation, the wetland, soil and animal and plant communities can be protected and restored, making it a characteristic ecological landscape of Urban Wetland Park.

Through the integrated system of aquatic eco engineering, the five types of Huangpu River can reach three kinds of water quality standards when they enter the Expo Park in the park for 1.7 kilometers, thus providing 2400 tons of landscape water and irrigation and flushing water to Expo park every day.

Reporters saw in the beach park, reed, Pu grass and other aquatic plants are green and dripping. The purified river water is clear and bottomed. In the water from time to time, you can also see the moving shrimps and small fish, a lively scene.

It is reported that in April 28th, one of the most influential awards in the world, the American Landscape Architects Association annual professional awards, the beach park has emerged from the 618 participating projects and won the award of the highest design award this year. This is the only comprehensive design excellence award that the Centennial Association of American Landscape architects has chosen this year.
