Invisible Killer Behind Children'S Clothing: Color Is Too Bright.

Yesterday, the Hubei Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau textile product testing center introduced, colorful children's clothing may be formaldehyde and aromatic amine exceeded the standard.

The decomposed aromatic amine and formaldehyde in children's clothing mainly come from the dyes and auxiliaries that keep the children's colors bright and beautiful, and the adhesives used in clothing printing.

In order to cater for the curious nature of children, some children's clothing enterprises mainly spend their efforts on the surface, colorful and rich in printing, but the safety factor is greatly reduced.

Experts say formaldehyde is contained in textiles and textile products, but the concentration is different.

Formaldehyde exceeding standard may cause leukemia and many other diseases, which will cause strong damage to the developing children. Dyestuff azo dyes can decompose carcinogenic aromatic amines under special conditions. For example, under the condition of poor color fastness, biocatalysis of the bacteria may cause a reduction reaction on the skin and release aromatic amines.

Hubei textile inspection center reminds parents to try to choose children's clothing with lighter color, less printing and smaller patterns.

Washing helps to reduce the formaldehyde content of clothing, but it can not be completely removed.

It is learnt that in order to help parents and children learn more about the quality of clothing, the Provincial Textile inspection center will launch a series of activities to celebrate children's activities in June.

During the month of activity, the center will open laboratory for fiber inspection, ecology, color fastness and other laboratories for adolescents and parents every Friday to provide quality consultation and free testing for parents, school uniform procurement and other related personnel.
