Guangzhou Medical College conducted a survey of 100 women wearing high-heeled shoes, and found that wearing high heels led to the incidence of discomfort of leg, foot pain and acid swelling as high as 93.6%.


    Foot pain is the most typical uncomfortable and early symptoms of wearing high-heeled shoes. It is also easy to get the public's understanding.

    However, long term wear of high-heeled shoes causes joint and lumbar lesions, and these potential hazards are far from being recognized by high-heeled shoes, seriously affecting women's health.


    Let's take a look at the three major hazards of wearing high heels.


    1, harm to the foot


    When standing and walking in high heels, the weight will be concentrated on the first to third metatarsal bones of the forefoot. At the same time, these toes will also be extruded by the tip of the shoe, and the corns will form a neuroma, resulting in stubborn and recurrent pain.

    3. Harm to lumbar vertebrae


    Actually, wearing high heel shoes is more serious to the lumbar vertebrae, because the occurrence and development of this kind of damage are relatively slow, and it is easier to be ignored.

    There are 4 physiological bending of human spine including cervical curvature, chest curvature, lumbar curvature and sacral flexion. Normal physiological bending is maintained by multiple structures such as vertebrae, intervertebral discs, facet joints, ligaments and muscles, and plays an important physiological role in balancing, stabilizing, buffering and concussion.

    Any cause of imbalance in the spine can cause pain in the waist.


    After wearing high heels, the pelvis will move forward and the gravity line will move forward.

    In order to maintain stability, it is necessary to re-establish the balance of chest, buttocks, waist and back extension. Of course, the curves of mature females are best displayed.

    Behind this beauty, the entire spine begins to accelerate degenerative changes.

    Maintain excessive and continuous lumbar extension, so that the lumbar muscles are in a state of constant tension and lumbar muscle strain.

    Enlargement of the lumbar spine can lead to the lumbar spinal canal stenosis caused by the folding of the ligamentum flavum behind the vertebral body, which may cause nerve root compression.
