From the perspective of development, Shanxi's equipment manufacturing industry has a good industrial base and unique advantages.

In 2009, the province's equipment manufacturing industry has 707 Enterprises above designated size. The whole industry has 5 state-level enterprise technology centers, 31 provincial-level enterprise technology centers, 5 industry technology centers, 3 famous Chinese products and 3 well-known trademarks in China, and is the fifth pillar industry in Shanxi after coal, coke, electricity and metallurgy.

Too heavy, Jingwei Textile machinery, Datong locomotives, Yongji electric machinery and other traditional equipment manufacturing enterprises at home and abroad have a high reputation. Chi Chi, Foxconn, tin Neng technology, Jincheng hung Nuo, Guangyu power supply, China Unicom and other emerging equipment manufacturing enterprises grow rapidly.

The heavy crane, reducer, oil film bearing, heavy power coal shearer, heavy electric locomotive, electric locomotive of Datong locomotives, and more than 30 sets of products of Qi Qi train set have more market share in China.

At the same time, some products have great advantages both at home and abroad.

In terms of railway equipment manufacturing, Chi Chi company is the only high-speed EMU wheel set production and maintenance base in the country, and has grown and assembled nearly 20 thousand sets of EMU wheels.

Taiyuan Iron and Steel Group has become the world's largest axle billet production enterprise, with a domestic market share of more than 90%. Jinxi Machinery Group has become the largest railway axle manufacturer in Asia, with a domestic market share of 40%.

From the perspective of development opportunities, the state has issued a series of support in recent years.
