Chinese Textile Exporters Bring A Gospel?

It is reported that the legislation passed by the US House of Representatives is the manufacturing Enhancement Act, also known as the miscellaneous Tariff Act (MTB).

The bill would like to stop tariffs on 639 imported products which the United States could not produce, including items such as synthetic fiber, environmental protection bags, chemicals, herbicides and cashmere, and other raw materials or products used in the production process.

Reporters further learned that textiles were approved by the above bill.

China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce responsible person in an interview with our reporter said that at present, the United States for China's textile and clothing products such as MFN treatment, most of the products tariff level is reasonable, but there are also some of the chemical fiber products tariffs higher, or even close to 30%.

"According to this bill, if we can reduce the tariff of this part of chemical fiber products, it will be a good thing for domestic textile exports."

However, the responsible person also pointed out that the object of the US tariff reduction is mainly the imported products which are not competitive with the local related products, that is, textile materials that the United States cannot produce, but also needs to be processed in the finished products.

Judging from the current statistics, China's exports to the United States are not much of its textile raw materials, so its profits are relatively limited.

During the interview, an insider also expressed opposite views to our reporter.

He pointed out that although about 70% of the world's cashmere comes from China, such natural textile raw materials, even if they enjoy duty-free treatment, are not suitable for large volume exports.

"Far away, these raw materials are much more harmful to the protection of grassland in China."

The industry pointed out that the purpose of the US tariff relief is mainly to serve the US export promotion strategy.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, after the passage of the bill, it is estimated that the import tariff of US $298 million will be saved for us importers in the next three years, and will further stimulate the development of the US manufacturing industry and reduce its export costs.

It is estimated that the implementation time of MTB will be postponed due to the final approval of the US Senate.

Once approved in the Senate and signed by Obama, the cessation of tariffs will be traced back to the first half of this year.
