The Hongqiao garment and apparel export innovation base was established yesterday. Shanghai Silk Group Co, Orient International Group, Shanghai Li Tai Import and Export Co., Ltd. and other 15 enterprises have become the first members of the base.

It is reported that the base will give full play to Shanghai's Talent Gathering advantages and industrial advantages in clothing and apparel industry. By creating a public service platform in the base, it will encourage enterprises in the base to set up design centers, proofing centers, exhibition centers and testing centers, etc., to further enhance the international competitiveness and innovation ability of Shanghai's clothing and apparel exports, and accelerate the cultivation of a number of export brand products.

Textile and clothing has always been an important traditional export commodity in Shanghai, ranking second only after IT products.

Data show that in 2009, Shanghai's textile and apparel exports totaled 15 billion 266 million US dollars, accounting for 10.76% of the total export volume of the city.

At the same time, textile and clothing is also one of Shanghai's most independent exports and brand advantage export commodities, Shanghai.

The top fourteen export enterprises have produced 18 independent brands, and the number of patents and inventions in characteristic industries exceeds 200.

However, with the improvement of business cost in Shanghai in recent years, the original profit margins of textile enterprises with OEM (OEM) as the main mode of development are becoming smaller and smaller, and the production capacity of textile and clothing has gradually shifted to neighboring provinces and cities, and so on. This forced the enterprises to extend to the industrial chain dominated by design and manufacture (ODM) and private brand production (OBM).

And we need to rely on the "tug of war" development of leading enterprises to further improve the grade and quality of textile and clothing export products, and promote the upgrading of Shanghai textile industry from quantitative to qualitative change.

It is reported that Shanghai Hongqiao garment and apparel export innovation base came into being under this background.

A commercial newspaper reporter was informed yesterday that the base will set up a public service platform for clothing and apparel, including fabric library, excipient library and information center.

Surface accessories

Public services such as information, online network enquiries, fashion and fashion information distribution and library information resources will also be promoted, and design centers, R & D centers, proofing centers and exhibition centers will also be promoted.
