In July, a large area of heavy rainfall occurred in China's Yangtze River Basin, but it did not cause much impact on cotton growth. The occurrence of pests and diseases in cotton fields all over the country was generally lighter than that in previous years, and cotton growth in the whole country was generally normal.

According to the national cotton market monitoring system statistics, as of the end of July, the national cotton processing enterprise lint sales rate (accounted for the proportion of processed) was 97%.

Two. Domestic market

Affected by the growth of new cotton and the sluggish price of cotton yarn, domestic cotton spot and futures prices rose narrower in July, and electronic matching prices fell.

The average price of the standard grade lint in the mainland is 18300 yuan / ton, up 524 yuan / ton from the previous month, or 2.9%, 2.8 percentage points lower than the previous month. The Zhengzhou cotton futures contract settlement price in September was 18294 yuan / ton, up 320 yuan / ton from last month, or 1.8%; the average price of the electronic matching September of the national cotton trading market was 17723 yuan / ton, down by 129 yuan per ton, or 0.7%.

Three. Cotton in the international market

In July, influenced by the decline of US dollar index, cotton futures prices in New York increased slightly. During the same period, the main cotton producing countries such as the United States and India grew better than expected, and the spot price of international cotton fell.

In the month, the New York cotton futures contract was 79.05 cents per pound in October, up 0.85 cents a pound last month, up 1.1%.

The average price of the imported cotton is 15561 yuan / ton at 1% customs duties, down 631 yuan / ton from last month, or 2.8%, and 15981 yuan / ton according to the sliding tax, a decrease of 624 yuan / ton, or 3.8% decrease from last month.

Four. Cotton imports increased slightly, and textile production and exports increased rapidly.

In July, China imported 169 thousand tons of cotton, an increase of 38 thousand tons, an increase of 28.6%, a decrease of 8 thousand tons, a decrease of 4.5%.

In 1-7 months of this year, China imported 1 million 712 thousand tons of cotton, an increase of 847 thousand tons compared with the same period last year, an increase of 97.6%.

As of July, China's total cotton imports totaled 2 million 265 thousand tons over the 2009 cotton year, an increase of 927 thousand tons compared with the same period last year, an increase of 69.4%.

According to the statistics of National Bureau of statistics, the national yarn production in July was 2 million 304 thousand tons, an increase of 276 thousand tons compared with that of the previous year, an increase of 13.6%.

In the 1-7 month of this year, China's yarn production totaled 15 million 3 thousand tons, an increase of 2 million 92 thousand tons compared with the same period last year, an increase of 16.2%.

As of July, the 2009 cotton year China's yarn production totaled 23 million 945 thousand tons, an increase of 3 million 352 thousand tons compared with the same period, an increase of 16.3%.

According to customs statistics, in July, China's textile and clothing exports amounted to 20 billion 800 million US dollars, up 27% over the same period last year.

In the 1-7 months of this year, China's textile and apparel exports totaled 109 billion 650 million US dollars, up 22.9% over the same period last year.

As of July, 2009 cotton annual textile and apparel exports totaled $171 billion 800 million, an increase of 10.5% over the same period last year.

In July, the average monthly price of 32 Cotton Combed Yarns in China was 27008 yuan / ton, up 476 yuan / ton from last month, or 1.8%, down 6.5 percentage points from the previous month. The average monthly price of polyester staple fiber was 9503 yuan / ton, down 115 yuan / ton, or 1.2%.

The difference between the standard grade cotton and polyester staple in the month was 8797 yuan / ton, an increase of 639 yuan / ton from last month.

Five, strengthen regulation and control supply.

In order to maintain the smooth operation of the market and meet the needs of textile cotton, the railway department continued to increase the capacity of Xinjiang cotton pportation. As of the end of July, the 3 million 60 thousand tons of Xinjiang cotton were increased by 400 thousand tons compared with the same period last year. The National Development and Reform Commission convened a forum on the cotton trade enterprises, calling for the effective use of the backbone role of the large circulation enterprises, and actively supplying the textile enterprises, and guiding the textile enterprises to actively use their quotas to import orders through the import tariff quota authority of various agricultural products (the provincial development and Reform Commission), seeking for more opinions, refining the rules of reserve cotton trading, strictly restricting the textile enterprises to purchase their own use, and deciding to put 600 thousand tons of reserve cotton into the market in early August.
