Taiwan Announced: Towel Survey Results

The standard Inspection Bureau of the Ministry of economic affairs of Taiwan, in order to enhance the safety of commodities, checks the samples of free towels, azo dyes, dyeing fastness (resistance to washing and rubbing), and checks whether the Chinese markup meets the requirements of "textile benchmark", so as to solve the quality of towels, provide the correct information to consumers, and prevent consumers from buying the towels which may be harmful to health.

A total of 22 towels were tested. The results showed that "free formaldehyde" and "azo pigment derived aromatic amine" were not detected. The appearance inspection was in compliance with the regulations, but only 1 pieces were resistant to washing dyeing fastness and friction.

Taiwan Standard Inspection Bureau said that the sampling inspection system was tested according to the national standard CNS15290 "textile safety specification (General requirements)", "CNS5899 towel and towel blanket", CNS2339 "fiber mixing rate test method" and "textile marking benchmark".

The items include "free formaldehyde", "azo pigment derived specific aromatic amine", "appearance", "size", "washing and dyeing fastness", "rubbing dyeing fastness" and "Chinese marking".

Among them, the "Chinese mark" is to check the name, address, telephone, size or size, production country, fiber composition and washing and processing method of the domestic producer (importer). The results of the inspection showed that the 2 towels were not marked with the percentage of fiber weight and the size of the products did not meet the requirements. The fastness to washing and dyeing and the fastness to rubbing are lower than those of the national standard. When the laundry is washed, the clothes such as light towels are easy to be mixed.

The Taiwan Standard Inspection Bureau urged manufacturers to implement the correctness of "Chinese labeling" in order to safeguard consumers' rights and interests.
