The Ningbo Clothing Fair was born in 1997. It was jointly sponsored by the China clothing association and the Ningbo Municipal People's government. The Ningbo economic and Trade Commission was responsible for hosting the Ningbo Expo.
Relying on the strong foundation of garment industry in Ningbo, it has been developing and growing for 13 years. It has won the UFI certification of the International Exhibition Industry Association and the "ten famous brand exhibitions in China" and so on. It is a famous clothing professional exhibition honored by the apparel industry at home and abroad. It is also one of the most important economic and trade activities in Ningbo every year. It plays a decisive role in the service industry, upgrading the industry and promoting the cooperation between the international and domestic garment industry.

Textile and garment industry is the traditional dominant industry in Ningbo. It is known as "Hong Bang tailor".
Today, the textile and garment industry in Ningbo has formed a large garment industrial cluster with suit and shirt as the leader, and fashion women's wear, knitted garments, cashmere garments, casual wear, children's clothing and leather goods. It covers the upper and lower reaches of the whole industrial chain, including cotton textile, wool textile, printing and dyeing, knitting, yarn dyed, silk, linen, garments, household textiles, industrial textiles, textile machinery and equipment.
In 2009, there were more than 2000 textile and garment manufacturing enterprises above Designated Size in Ningbo, with 20 famous Chinese brands and 25 well-known trademarks in China. In recent years, a group of key clothing enterprises in Ningbo, represented by YOUNGOR, Shan Shan and Luo Meng, have acquired a large number of European and American clothing brands, and have cooperated with some top international brands.
A number of new garment enterprises such as Taiping, Fei Ge and GXG have established cooperation channels with garment design institutes and designers in Japan, Italy, France, Hongkong and other countries and regions. Ningbo and Feng creative plaza have gathered a number of design service organizations, and the internationalization of Ningbo's garment industry is increasing year by year.

In line with the tenet of "relying on industry, service industry and upgrading industry", since the establishment of the Ningbo Clothing Fair in 1997, with the support of the state and provincial governments, Ningbo Garment Fair has been collecting scientific and technological operation of the textile and garment industry in the Yangtze River Delta region in the past more than 10 years, and has actively established a trading platform to integrate domestic and foreign industrial information, and has become an important fashion professional event in East China.

The Expo has opened 7 pavilions of the Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center. It has added 2200 pavilions to the last exhibition.
