Why Do Chinese People Fail To Innovate?

    2010/9/27 10:57:00 41

    Chinese Innovative Culture

By the end of 2008, "

    Shanzhai

"This vague and ambiguous vocabulary suddenly became popular.

Shanzhai mobile phone, Shanzhai notebook, cottage network drama...

For a time, Shenzhou is everywhere "Shanzhai".

Since October 2005, independent innovation has become a national strategy and a popular "Shanzhai" in Chinese enterprises in 2008. This is a very symbolic portrayal of Chinese enterprises' hard innovation.

    Why do Chinese people?

    innovate

How can we go out of a road of independent innovation? This is not just a technical issue.

Without noble personality, there can be no excellent experts. Without a broad cultural vision of history, culture and ideology, it is impossible to ride a dust in technology.

I summarize the main factors that hamper innovation in Chinese culture in three aspects: power culture, relationship culture and secular culture.

    Innovation obstacle 1: Power

    Culture

From different angles, power culture can also be called official standard culture, hierarchical culture, face culture, autocratic culture, and slave culture.

It is natural that there should be some official standard culture in the field of public administration.

But if we move the official culture to the academic world, the problem will be complicated.

As a matter of fact, it is not a matter of great learning. As a result, the distribution of resources to the academic system does not directly create value.

Wasting resources is a trivial matter. The key is its wrong guiding role: everyone's intelligence and intelligence are all used to compete and become a school official.

An official of the Guangdong Provincial Department of education disclosed at a meeting of the Guangdong provincial CPPCC, "there are 40 professors competing for a director position in Shenzhen".

Since its professorship, it has never devalued to this level.

The fundamental reason for the overflowing of official standards is that the educational, academic and scientific research institutions have lost their independence and become the appendages of power.

Such official standard will distort the guidance of internal resource allocation on the one hand, and distort the whole society's resource flow on the other hand.

Education, research and other industries are essentially non-profit social undertakings. They should be responsible to the agents who donate, hold the cause or donors, instead of being responsible for public rights, just like public service agencies.

But logically, when the road goes to the sky, and each side chooses one side, the power of choice is not attached to power, but what is even more frightening is that this power is still monopoly power. All kinds of administrative control completely block up the space of independent education and research and development, which rely on social forces and folk forces, so long as you enter this industry, you do not have to rely on it.

We all hope that our children will have good libraries in good schools, regardless of their economic strength.

But now this system has largely removed the enthusiasm of the civil society to organize these social undertakings.

It is not easy for Chinese entrepreneurs to earn money. Conscientious entrepreneurs make money even harder. If they understand the nature of the system, unless they are enmity with wealth, it is hard to imagine that they will donate money to such a system.

Therefore, the choice of many entrepreneurs is to seize the time to move on the one hand. On the other hand, they prefer to donate money to the relevant agencies abroad or to domestic institutions.

For the practical research and development work, the official standard is also a deadly enemy.

Before he founded the Lenovo Inc, Liu Chuanzhi studied the magnetic recording circuit in the Institute of computing science for 13 years.

A research and development staff working in a multinational power company said with emotion, "to work for foreigners, to feel comfortable, to do much work, to earn much money, without considering officials or whatever."

If you have the skills, the treatment will come naturally to you.

But in those State-run scientific research institutes, the only way to go is by administration.

This is actually the crux of China's high-tech development.

    Innovation obstacle two: relationship culture

The second obstacle to Chinese enterprises' innovation is relationship culture.

Relationship culture is to coordinate the relationship between internal and external, far and near, also known as circle culture.

If grade culture is the first key to understand China, relational culture is the second key to understand Chinese culture.

These "relationships" are not related to blood relatives, geographically (fellow townsmen), scholars, classmates and colleagues.

Some of these relationships are the result of active selection. Some are the result of passive decisions, but they are generally established through long interaction and mutual understanding.

Compared with the individualism culture, the characteristics of relational culture are: 1. uphold the interdependent concept of self; 2., the individual is the means to accomplish collective goals; 3., pay attention to external behavior norms instead of intrinsic values; 4., pay attention to harmony rather than task completion.

Compared with the group collectivism in Japan and South Korea, relational collectivism is a collection of individuals with a variety of one to one relationships, rather than a team, group or organization based on other principles, such as family, company, club, etc.

Therefore, you are also regarded as your own person. Because the relationship between you and his single person is Chinese, people in Japan and South Korea are more or less because you belong to a larger group like them.

In a typical relationship culture, a person's relationship network defines the person's ego, which marks the person's social status and determines the resources that the person can mobilize.

Making money depends on the relationship network, entertainment and relaxation depend on the relationship network.

A relation network determines the state of existence, life and even life of a person.

People are surrounded and entangled by relationships. Apart from a few people who choose to self exile because of religious or personal life experiences, there is little room for themselves to leave a more abundant space.

Conversely, people who are in relationship culture are often very difficult to adapt to this relationship.

Moreover, compared with collectivist collectivism, individuals in relational culture are more likely to lose their self identification and self positioning after leaving the specific relationship network because they do not have the asylum of abstract organizational identity.

Compared with the westerners, our nation that focuses on the relationship between people is a bit too noisy.

The Western first-class universities are often located in a remote town where birds don't lay eggs. If China's universities are placed in small areas, the fate of their declining destiny is almost certain.

When people travel to the west, they often admire the living conditions of ordinary people, such as blue sky, green trees and pastoral songs. But there is no problem in their short term travel. They really want to stay for a few weeks. Even if there are no language or social problems, I am afraid they will soon begin to think about the days of singing at home.

China's big cities are not planning without a satellite town, but in the end, they spread the pie in the Fourth Ring Road and the five rings, which are also related to the cultural characteristics of Chinese people.

Innovation is essentially an individual behavior. It is a state of exploration immersed in the awe, love and infatuation of objective laws. It is a state of mind and matter and two things that I forget.

Therefore, innovation is not simply a limelight, but a breath of breath and a "human being", because the real innovators do not really care about others' evaluation of their behavior, whether it is negative criticism or positive flowers and applause.

If a bird's wings hang on gold and medals, how will it fly? Collectivism culture, including relationship culture, is too much emphasis on other people's self evaluation, including the desire for positive evaluation and fear of negative evaluation. It is easy for everyone to fall into the herd mentality, so it is difficult to create the spirit of individualism that is needed by innovation.

Innovation is actually a low socialized and socialized behavior.

Therefore, it is necessary for the society to create a relatively simple environment, give them some scientific research resources, and eliminate all kinds of external disturbances in a long time.

Moreover, the more fundamental research is, the more we need the protection of this non socialized institutional environment.

In English, there are jeek, nerd, knowbie and other words describing all kinds of technical gifted. The whole society knows their value, designs and protects them through various systems, and creates an environment that enables them to play their specialty.

Essentially, relational culture is a highly socialized institutional environment, which requires a strong socialized character to survive in it.

In this respect, the general technical talent can not be the rival of a mixed up scholar with two faces.

    Innovation obstacle three: secular culture

Power culture and relationship culture, one is temple, the other is Jianghu.

Temples are legalized rivers and lakes, and rivers and lakes are not yet legalized.

They complement each other and form the two main axes of Chinese society and Chinese culture.

A more inherent obstacle to innovation than power culture and relationship culture is that Chinese culture emphasizes the worldly, pays attention to utilitarian, pays attention to material, lacks pcendence, lacks adherence to abstract principles, and lacks the tendency to draw value from life in adhering to abstract principles.

The childhood of human culture begins with the culture of witchcraft. From Confucius's "unknown life, death to death" to Laozi's "mysterious and mysterious", Chinese culture walks in front of other cultures of the world in its secularization, secularization and disenchantment.

Western culture has a secular aspect from west la culture to Rome culture. However, the two opposite ideas, exclusionary dichotomous thinking and other shore thinking in west la culture have reserved the position for the later Christian theocracy.

After the reformation in sixteenth Century, the so-called "WTO asceticism" represented by Protestant ethics was formed in the West.

After entering the world and pursuing worldly success, worldly success is just a means of religious salvation and proof of God's grace.

According to Webb's view, such "accession to asceticism" is an important factor in the formation of capitalism.

If the power culture is to deal with the boss, the relationship between culture is to deal with friends. The culture appears to be dealing with God and dealing with God. The purpose is to explore the essence, meaning and value of life, and its essence is to deal with oneself.

Instead of thinking and talking with oneself, we are striving for "the power of the powerless, the wealth of the proletariat, the home of the homeless", a realm that is clear and clear and illuminated.

This metaphysical exploration spirit is the common spiritual core of literature, art, science, and even the solitude of those who fail to attain the highest level in every industry.

Under the influence of our secular culture, most people do not realize this spiritual existence.

The highest realm of business and management also needs the metaphysical spirit of "self realization, pursuit of no self" (Li Jiacheng language), challenge and prove the value of life.

However, since ancient times, "the rich and the poor" are difficult for the rich to enter the paradise, because the distance between the business community and the wealth and reputation is too close.

It is a very rare thing for a few people to keep a clear head, to discipline themselves in the work, to practice in the most common posts, and to enhance the realm of self.

Of course, these years, the popularity of master of national studies and Chinese studies shows that people at least understand that the external things such as fur and wine, wine, beauty, arrogance, and all kinds of things can not bring life value and inner satisfaction.

The problems brought by affluence are sometimes less than the problems brought by poverty, and the resolution of these problems requires a higher wisdom.

The lack of pcendence, introspection and introspection in Chinese culture is the lack of self-expression consciousness of the general Chinese. This contrasts with the strong self-awareness of western culture.

There is a lot of literature about self-awareness in western psychology, and you can find a string of words beginning with "self-" when you open an English dictionary.

But typical Chinese people, because of our educational methods and cultural background, are always looking at other people's opinions, and are not accustomed to starting their own values and their own principles to make their own independent judgments.

So, how many Chinese people have lived all their lives, are actually living for others' opinions and for others.

Breaking through the path of innovation

The breakout of Chinese enterprises and Chinese culture can be summed up in 9 words: "not only on top, not just people, but only me".

"Not only" is a way to break the power culture, return education to educators, return science to scientists, and bring innovation back to innovators.

At the enterprise level, it is important to strive to build an equal, relaxed and trustful corporate culture, so that researchers can fully develop their potential.

"Not the only person" is to strive to build a low socialized, high degree of freedom, high tolerance environment, create a full, safe sense of personal space and private space, encourage individualism values of individualism and individualism, so as to truly achieve hundred flowers bloom and hundred schools of thought contend.

At the enterprise level, the most important thing is to ensure the excess return to innovators and adventurers through the venture capital mechanism (SMEs) and the performance appraisal mechanism (big enterprises).

"Only me" and "ego only" are not arrogant, self-centered and egocentric, but adhere to the principles, bottom line and belief of the heart.

The degree of persistence determines the degree of self achievement, the degree of self breakthrough and the degree of self actualization.

At the enterprise level, efforts are made to link the fate of the enterprise with the fate of the country, linking the corporate culture with the cultural traditions of the whole country and nation, so that employees can feel the deep and lasting sense of achievement that the state achieves in cultural breakthrough and the new culture brought about by the new culture.

"Not only, not only people, only me," in the words of the writer Lian Yue, "we remain suspicious, we criticize, we do not cooperate, we can happily change the system, we are the system.

If it takes 100 years, we will spend 100 years.

If we need 1000, we will spend 1000. "
