The Strategic Shift Of Silkworm Production In Henan Has Achieved Initial Success.

In the current situation of shortage of rural labor force in plain areas, sericulture production is no longer suitable, and the mulberry garden area has obviously shrunk.

Therefore, in 2008, Henan province put forward the strategic decision of Henan silkworm production to pfer from plain to hilly and mountainous areas of western Henan, and commissioned sericultural experts to study and select points in the hilly areas of western Henan. In late 2009, the Yichuan area and Luoning County of Luoyang were selected as the first batch of silkworm strategic pfer pilot counties in the province, which were suitable for the production and development of mulberry and silkworm production. They were gradually built into a typical production base of 10000 mu high-quality silkworm cocoons in Hilly and mountainous areas of Henan Province, bringing about the development of sericulture production in hilly areas of western Henan Province, and realizing the substantial pfer of Henan silkworm production from plain areas to hilly areas.

In order to do a good job in this work, sericultural experts often go to Yichuan and Luoning for propaganda, training and guidance. Under the joint efforts of the county authorities and the leading enterprises in the sericulture, the 10 towns, 31 administrative villages, 282 villages and 5 villages and towns in Luoning, Chen Wu, Jian Kou, Di Zhang, Xishan, Zhao village and other 5 villages and towns in Yichuan Township, which have radiative effect, have been radiated.

In order to enable the new silkworms to master the technology of planting mulberry and silkworm as soon as possible, the county sericulture authorities and leading enterprises have organized meticulously and organized sericultural experts and scientific and technological personnel to organize large-scale training courses for sericultural Technology (more than 100 people) and on-site training guidance for many villages, and arranged 620 summer and autumn silkworms in 46 administrative villages in 15 counties and townships in two counties to carry out the whole term trial training. The average yield of summer and autumn silkworms was 40.5 kg, cocoon yield 90%, unwinding rate 68%, reeling 290 kg, Zhang Yuan silkworm's income 1280 yuan, mid autumn silkworm breeding income 1336 yuan, high yield reached the economic benefit of 1280 yuan and the successful experience of raising silkworm and high yield and quality.

Remarkable achievements and successful experiences of silkworm rearing in summer and autumn in two counties of Yichuan and Luoning have not only stimulated the enthusiasm of farmers to develop sericulture production, but also broke the output level of silkworms grown in summer and autumn in Henan for only 35 kilograms in recent years, and fully confirmed that the climate and soil quality in hilly areas of western Henan are suitable for planting mulberry and silkworms, which is the advantage area for developing silkworm production in our province.

According to the requirements of farmers in two counties of Yichuan and Luoning, the mulberry garden area is expected to grow to more than 10000 acres this winter and next spring. In the next 3 years, the mulberry area can be developed to 30 thousand mu. By 2015, the mulberry garden area in two counties can reach 60 thousand mu. In addition, the Yiyang, Xin'an, Luanchuan, Songxian and Sanmenxia cities in the hilly area of Lushi, Mianchi, Shanxian and so on, which can be built in the last week, can build a high-quality and efficient ecological silkworm production base of over 100 thousand mu in the hilly and mountainous areas of western Henan Province, so as to realize the strategic shift of silkworm production in our province from plain area to hilly and mountainous areas of western Henan.
