The Multiple Mission Of A Competition
In 2010, China International fabric design competition just came to a close. This is the eleventh year that it has taken root in the industry.
The reason why the competition can show such a long and fresh vitality is that it grows together with the industry, mining and undertaking multiple missions of the industry.
"In today's rising cost elements, design is a resource with great potential. Therefore, training designers, focusing on consumer demand and focusing on process technology, will bring more profits to Chinese textile enterprises in the process of internationalization and commercialization."
The whole industry routine "thorough examination"
It is understood that this fabric design competition has received more than 350 fabric enterprises nearly 3000 fabric products. The design competition has attracted 62 institutions and several designers firms, enterprises and individuals participating in the competition, and received nearly 1500 works.
It can be seen from the statistics that the competition can reflect the real level of the product development in the current industry. It can be regarded as an annual "practice test" of the industry. It can find out the details of the industry and pass on the important information such as the latest development concept, fashion trend and raw material technology. This is a step up step to know where the difference is and how to proceed step by step.
For the current level of fabric, Zhu Lijuan, a researcher of the national textile product development center, gave a clear conclusion: from the industry perspective, the development of domestic worsted fabrics and shirt fabrics has reached the international leading level; the growth rate of cotton, chemical fiber and knitted products is the fastest, and the level of the fabric of the enterprises is not much different; however, the silk and hemp products with Chinese characteristics are slower than other industries, and there is a big gap in the level of products from different enterprises.
When it comes to raising the level of R & D, bamboo fiber is a good example.
Zhu Lijuan said that the number of bamboo fiber products has increased greatly, and is no longer confined to knitted products, but also tries to be woven into woven fabrics with cotton, wool, silk, hemp, chemical fiber and other fibers, which can replace some mercerizing processes.
As Li Binhong, director of the national textile product development center, said, "we hope that through the competition, the whole industry will realize that the truly competitive market design products should be in line with market popularity, make rational use of new raw materials and new technologies, and have a certain competitive advantage in price so that more enterprises can achieve this level of product development."
The focus of design shifted to business.
Turning the focus of fabric design to business is the original intention of the contest. It is also a witness to the promotion of fabric design after years of operation.
Whether it is the event itself or the contestant, all kinds of innovative means are being tried, and the consistency of the consumer market is gradually improved.
From the point of view of the operation mode of the competition, we have to cooperate with Shaoxing, a representative textile industry gathering place in China, to pport professional talents to Shaoxing, create an atmosphere for creative development, and promote the upgrading of Keqiao's industry.
In this contest, two famous domestic fashion designers, Ceng Fengfei and Wang Peina, have been invited to the exhibition. They will be selected for the design of the fabrics, and will be displayed on the awards ceremony, and will be extended to the clothing enterprises.
For the first time, the competition was launched with Shanghai Ding Tian Textile Co., Ltd. to launch the "Tian Tian Jacquard Pattern Application Award", pforming the excellent design of the contest to finished product.
Some activities derived from the contest, such as "China's popular fabrics enter the base business" and "China's popular fabric Innovation Display", are commercialized.
It is worth mentioning that, every year, the certification of "Chinese popular fabrics entering enterprises" is hung in the most prominent position at the annual excipient exposition, which is the recognition of the business value of the competition.
It can be seen that the commercialized operation mode of the competition has been gradually responded by the participants, and the number of fabric enterprises has exceeded the previous ones.
"This competition reflects the rapid progress of textile enterprises and designers in terms of technology and design consciousness. They no longer emphasize performance skills only, but pay more attention to application. Color, style and market are more closely linked, focusing on the combination of re technology and design."

This can be clearly seen from this year's pattern competition. Compared with last year, most of the designs can be implemented in different ways, such as jacquard or printing. The end use of the design has a clear direction and can be made into skirt or suit.
Fashion discourse right of Chinese fabrics
At the present stage, the lack of Chinese elements is a common problem faced by many fields in China. Of course, it is also a major obstacle to enhance the span of China's own fabric.
At the judging site, WGSN creative director from world-famous trend information website and some European judges affirmed the advanced equipment and technology of Chinese fabric enterprises, but also pointed out that Chinese fabric design lacks distinctive personalization and cultural characteristics.
Wang Wei, deputy director of the product development division of the national textile product development center, stressed that the idea of "returning to humanistic care" is what the competition wants to dig deeper. At present, such works are less bright and should be further reflected in future competitions.
The first prize of the first prize of this competition is to jump out of the limitations of traditional patterns and refine from the small details of life.
"Standing at the consumer market perspective, there is still much room for improvement in the creative techniques, colors and patterns of the entries."
Zhu Lijuan pointed out that fabric is not a terminal product, but also needs the re creation of fashion designers. Just like the purpose of "internationalization and commercialization" insisted by the competition, the main premise for finding the characteristic elements of Chinese fabrics is to grasp the trend of the times and devote great efforts to study the real demand of the terminal market.
