Shanghai international popular yarn (SPINEXPO) Exhibition

Founder and operator since March 2003

    Karine Van Tassel

Madam has been committed to providing the most international and creative display platform for fiber, yarn, knitted products and creative trend publishing.

Nowadays, scarce resources, rising costs and other factors promote the international demand for high value-added and high-tech products. The emergence of new fiber yarn materials, such as soybean protein, pupa protein, bamboo fiber and corn fiber, and the emergence of various functional yarn such as antibacterial, odorant, mould resistant, antistatic and ultraviolet resistant, make textile manufacturers pay more attention to the innovative products of the industrial chain. Besides the functions of the display platform, the Shanghai international popular yarn exhibition is also exploring the changing trend of the market demand in the future.

Reporter: How did you have the idea of launching the Shanghai international popular yarn exhibition?

Karine: as the founder of Shanghai international popular yarn exhibition and New York international popular yarn exhibition, I have been following the trend of international fashion industry.

When I first entered the textile industry, the fashion trend of the industry seemed to be led by high fashion brands.

I worked for the international high-end fashion brands such as Madame Gr s, Herm s, Marith & Francois Girbaud, George Lake and Georges.

When textile Innovation began to show vitality on fabrics, I went to Dormeuil as the head of women's clothing department, and later became the marketing director of Chargeurs group, who was responsible for publicizing corporate image. At the same time, I supervised the products of all women's clothing department of the weaving subsidiary of the group.

From the design of high fashion, the research and development of new fabrics, and the sale of final products, I realized that all of the innovation power should be laid at the source of the industrial chain: fibers and yarns.

Therefore, I decided to get closer to the upstream of the textile industry chain and pay more attention to the Asian market that I focused on before my career.

Taking part in a large market survey conducted by Italy cotton and linen textile association to China, I discovered that China has great potential in textile consumption and innovation.

In 2003, the Shanghai international yarn exhibition came into being under such a background.

Reporter: please briefly review the development of the international yarn exhibition.

Karine: initially, the exhibition is dedicated to building a market communication bridge for European spinning enterprises and knitted and woven fabric manufacturers in Asia or the west coast of the United States. As the target audience of the exhibition is a high-end enterprise with strong R & D capabilities, most of the exhibitors are European and Japanese enterprises, and a small part comes from Korea and Taiwan, China.

Almost no exhibitors from mainland China were seen on the first SPINEXPO.

But after several exhibitions, some large local enterprises in China began exhibiting. During this process, we constantly helped them improve their display methods and enrich the exhibits.

At the same time, the European spinning mills are facing the restructuring of the global market, so our exhibition has also become a platform for cooperation and joint venture.

As the number of exhibitors in Europe and Asia has begun to change, SPINEXPO exhibits and audiences are becoming more diversified.

Reporter: as a sponsor, how can we attract more representative enterprises to participate in the exhibition while ensuring the quality of the exhibitors so that SPINEXPO can maintain a good momentum of development?

Karine: in today's global market, different regions of the world have different technological advantages, thus showing rich and colorful international characteristics. This is also the vision set by the international popular yarn (SPINEXPO) at the beginning of its founding.

After regrouping, European and Japanese enterprises turn to produce high-end textile fibers and yarns with unique characteristics.

Such enterprises are more oriented to the more sophisticated market with higher demand, while Chinese spinning enterprises prefer leisure products, and their products win with high quality and high output.

In the early stage of each exhibition, we will visit the factories of exhibitors, check their products, and use their yarns to make sample cards, garments, woven fabrics and accessories in the exhibition area of the exhibition.

We have a clear understanding of the product quality of exhibitors, which is no less than the end users at this point.

Reporter: under the background of rising global raw material prices, you think SPINEXPO's exhibition platform is in the whole.

    industry chain

    What role does it play?

Karine: just like the exhibitors and spectators who need to provide reasonably priced and creative products for their brands or customers, we all need to break through our minds and brainstorm new challenges.

I believe that only through the test of the market can we really excite.

    Originality

For example, we try to integrate and rebuild some products to make it more consistent with the sales demand of terminal products. We also need to start at the acceptable price of the market, and try to reduce the cost of raw materials to achieve this goal, and design products with soft, layered and new fiber blended products.

    These are feasible solutions.

Reporter: what are your plans for the future development of Shanghai international popular yarn exhibition?

Karine: in Shanghai, our biggest problem at present is that there is not enough space in the existing exhibition hall. More and more buyers are interested in the works of knitwear producers and designers at the exhibition. At the same time, manufacturers and designers are constantly making demands on us, hoping to display their high-end products and extraordinary ideas through the exhibition platform. So we decided to move the venue to the Expo Theme Pavilion in September 2011.

At the same time, we also plan to organize more fashion symposiums, especially for exhibitors to provide a collaborative team of designers in the field of yarn, and listen to their analysis of fashion trends.

We also hope to invite more machinery manufacturers, fiber developers and promotion companies to hold seminars to introduce more technical innovations.

In addition, as a special service for exhibitors, we hope that the next season's fashion trends and color trends will be held on the day of exhibitors' admission, providing them with a reference trend guide.

As for the development of SPINEXPO in other countries, we have organized the New York international popular yarn Exhibition for the American continent (North America, Central America and South America).

Before that, there was no special yarn exhibition in the United States, so we saw the potential of the international popular yarn exhibition.

Today, the customer base of the exhibition is no longer confined to the big brands in the United States, and the number of potential buyers in the US and South America is also growing.

Although some exhibitors hope to add SPINEXPO to other places, we do not think it is necessary to do so at the moment.

We do not copy past successful experiences in this field, and create new businesses in the name of exhibitions to make easy profits.

We hope that the exhibition will be able to maintain its vitality for a long time and prove to the exhibitors that the funds they invested in it is worthwhile through substantive results.
