Among the dyes used in textile dyeing, aromatic amines as part of the dye intermediates are regarded as suspicious carcinogens in many countries. Therefore, dozens of azo dyes containing this substance are listed as prohibited.

China's GB18401 also made specific restrictions on specific azo dyes.

Safety standards are in line with international standards. The self-discipline standard for textiles without the use of azo dyes is formulated. The specific requirements are: prohibit the use of azo based reductive decomposition according to the prescribed experimental method, and the azo content of 22 specific aromatic amine substances exceeding 30mg /kg can be detected from textile products.

According to Xia Lingmin, Deputy Secretary General of the China Textile Industry Association, about 80% of the textiles in the Japanese market came from China. In order to avoid increasing the cost of the export enterprises due to the batch by product inspection, the China Textile Industry Association and the Japanese Fiber Industry Alliance have reached a consensus on the implementation of the standard after more than a year of repeated consultations. That is, through the cooperation between the two sides, a white list system will be established to provide consumers with safe and reassuring textiles under the condition of avoiding batch testing of textiles, so as to reduce the cost of the related enterprises and ensure the smooth progress of Sino Japanese textile trade.

Xia Lingmin believes that the implementation of the project will help to comprehensively promote the upgrading of the industry, enhance the competitiveness of enterprises, and guide the industry self-discipline to a new level.

According to the introduction, the users of the white list system include dyeing factories, sewing factories (suppliers), exporters and importers.

The exporter needs to print and deliver the non use of specific azo dye undertaking through the "white list system". The sewing factory (Supplier) needs to obtain and deliver the white list code through the "white list system". The importer needs to verify the authenticity of the manufacturer's commitment and the dyeing factory code through the "white list system".

Enterprises that get the "white list qualification" can be recognized by Japanese importers who enter the system. When their products are exported to Japan, they do not need to detect specific azo dyes, which not only reduces the export cost of enterprises, but also enables enterprises to get more business opportunities.
