Let The Price Of Wool Reflect Its Value.
At the opening ceremony of this session, Du Yuzhou, President of China Textile Industry Association, shook hands with foreign guests.
May 9th ~11, CO sponsored by China Wool Textile Industry Association
Wool spinning
The eightieth session of the organization (IWTO) was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
At the meeting, experts and scholars from wool textile industry from various countries discussed the theme of "sustainable development of wool support".
The sustainability of the wool consumer market, high price and environmental protection and animal protection have become more frequent words in this conference.
Wool has become a global brand.
At this meeting, Roberto Cardellino, general manager of animal products consulting company of Uruguay Delta company, believes that people should understand the reproductivity of wool and the small impact of wool on the external environment. (Roberto)
Wool industry
Sustainable development.
Sustainable development is a process, and the implementation of this process takes some practical actions to achieve it.
For example, the Handbook of wool created by IWTO in 2008 to create a healthier and safer environment is a pragmatic thing for consumers.
He believes that the most important thing for sustainable development of wool is not how to explain it, but how to do it. Too much talk will make us lose our way.
The industry should focus on consumer demand and cognition, and consumers' attention to green environment should become the focus of the industry.
Countries should go beyond their own interests and see more in what ways they can promote the development of wool fiber, pay attention to the reaction of consumers, and implement the development of wool fiber to consumption.
With the fierce competition in today's society, consumers are concerned not only about the environmental protection of products, but also the social responsibilities of enterprises and industries. The importance of sustainable development is constantly being strengthened.
As a natural, renewable and degradable fiber, wool's sustainability will be the biggest capital.
However, we have to admit that contemporary
wool
And the wool textile industry is facing a series of severe challenges.
A large number of ingredients in the wool industry and a large number of traditional extensive production components in the wool textile industry, compared to the production of modern large-scale industrial products armed with high-tech, the opportunity cost is increasing, and marginal benefits are declining.
The value growth of wool is lower than the increase of meat price. This traditional industry has experienced a boundary shrinkage under the extrusion of fictitious economy.
In the past 20 years, the number of sheep in the world has decreased by 11.5%, and the output of raw wool has dropped by 42.4%.
Insufficient investment in R & D of wool and wool textile industry and lagging behind in industrial technology pformation have made it difficult to excavate many potential human and environment-friendly value potential in wool and wool textile industry.
At the same time, with the support of new and high technology, chemical fiber has been constantly breaking through in terms of simulation performance and labor productivity, and the marginal cost of differentiated chemical fibers has been decreasing and the cost performance is increasing.
In the context of economic globalization, wool has become a unified brand. The sustainable development of wool industry should focus on consumer response, and should actively expand the market.
For example, the development of mother and baby market, the use of wool good elasticity, hygroscopicity, warmth retention, Hikaruzawa Youwa and other characteristics of the production of maternal and child products, so that consumers understand the characteristics of wool.
In addition, government support is also an important factor in the sustainable development of wool industry.
The government's policy measures, government actions and more government involvement will help industry cope with market competition better.
Let the price of wool reflect its value.
Jeff Kim Weir, chairman of the South African wool Bureau (Geoff Kingwell), believes that sustainable development of wool is a comprehensive and extensive topic, and social, economic and environmental aspects should not be ignored.
For the current market, how to make wool price reflect the value of wool is an important topic.
In recent years, the price of wool has been rising all the time, due to the decrease in the wool market. Although the period has fluctuated, the overall price has been on the rise.
Faced with this situation, experts attending the meeting believe that the development of this trend is the inevitable result of market demand, complying with the trend of global price rise.
Most foreign participants agreed that this trend should continue and the price of wool should continue to rise.
However, faced with this situation, Chen Lifen, chairman of Jiangsu sunshine group, has expressed concern.
In her view, wool is a very good quality product. In the past, the price of wool was low, which deviated from the value of wool and the price should be raised.
However, in the past six months, the price of wool has gone up too fast, and it has already exceeded the scope that the market can afford. The price of wool textile enterprises should be taken into account in raising the price of wool.
Whether there is a price bubble in the rising price of wool is worth discussing.
If we want to maintain such a price level, wool producers should consider the definition of wool products as more high-grade products and pay attention to the upgrading of wool fiber image.
{page_break}
As for the rising price of wool, Peng Yanli, President of the China Wool Textile Industry Association, believes that the price of wool has gone up too fast in the past six months.
However, relative to price rise, price fluctuation is a bigger enemy for enterprises.
If the price of wool alone is rising, the products produced by the wool textile enterprises can be digested in the market by raising product prices.
However, if the price fluctuates, the enterprise is very passive.
At the same time, if the wool products are defined as high-end products, the market will be too narrow.
The demand for high-end market is smaller than that of the mass market. Although the added value of products is high, the number of consumers is small.
If we only define wool as a high-end product and turn wool into a noble fiber, it will have less influence on the public, which will not benefit the promotion of the wool market.
China is a large exporter of wool products. Most of the wool produced annually is exported to Europe and America, Japan and other countries and regions, and the amount of domestic sales is relatively small.
Coupled with the problem of Chinese dressing habits, the demand for suits and formal clothing is relatively small, and wool products are not necessarily necessities.
In particular, today's young people are more comfortable and fashionable, so the demand for suits is even more limited.
Although wool is also a raw material for casual wear, the rising price of wool will inevitably lead retailers to raise the retail price of their products.
In the case of relatively small demand, it is difficult to predict whether the market will be able to accept the price increase.
At the same time, now that the international situation is unstable, the war in the Middle East is continuing, earthquakes and nuclear radiation have occurred in Japan, and the problem of the loss of personnel in the textile industry has spread to the whole world. This situation is bound to affect the development of the wool market.
As a result, the rising price of wool is a great challenge to the needs of consumers and the development of the industry.
If we want to make wool truly sustainable, we should not just pursue the luxury, brand and high price of wool. Instead, we should publicize more about the characteristics of wool itself, popularize the natural, renewable and degradable properties of wool, so that it can get more people's acceptance and understanding at a reasonable price, and take into account the high-end and the mass market.
Attention to environment and animal protection
When it comes to sustainable development, people will consciously link them to environment and animal protection. This is a topic of increasing importance.
At this IWTO conference, this topic has also become the focus of discussion.
In South Africa, sheep are being killed more and more. Local sheep farmers lose 6000 sheep a day on average, causing a monetary loss of up to $2 billion a year. Wild animals such as wild dogs, bobcats, black backed Fox and so on are the main culprits.
Some experts believe that in the next 5~10 years, if the killing is still not controlled, the sheep raising business will even disappear.
At the same time, the change of climate also has a certain impact on wool products.
A large number of waste water and gas discharged from factories and families, white pollution has become increasingly serious, carbon dioxide emissions continue to increase, the temperature has increased year by year, the growth rate of plants has decreased, rainfall has been decreasing, and the growth of grassland has been seriously affected. These factors have led to a sharp decline in the number of sheep, and the wool production has been affected.
Of course, wool practitioners should not be pessimistic and should turn unfavorable factors into favorable ones.
For example, the establishment of closed feeding areas, in a certain range of sheep breeding and feeding, in order to reduce the impact on the natural environment.
At the same time, plants with strong drought resistance are selected in relatively arid areas or choose to raise cattle.
In this sense, challenges may also mean opportunities, and the key is to see how to do them.
In this regard, Hongkong Jingyuan group is at the forefront of sustainable development.
They have gone out of a sustainable development path in four aspects: environment, society, quality and ecological products.
They are adhering to the concept of "avoiding, reducing, recycling and abandoning" to manufacture products.
In 2008, the group set up a model factory in Zhongshan, Guangdong, and called it a green factory.
All production and life activities in factories comply with the principles of energy conservation, water saving and waste reduction.
The use of energy-saving lamps for lighting, installation of water curtain air conditioning to save energy, steam condensate recovery for two times, the staff accommodation area using solar and wind energy to provide water and power generation, and installation of green roofs at the top floor of factories and residential buildings.
All actions of the company reflect its insistence on the goal of sustainable development, and it is said that it will support sustainable development in practice.
During the 3 day IWTO annual meeting, the deepest feeling of journalists is that more and more enterprises and representatives have realized the importance of sustainable development of wool industry, and have thought about this problem. However, if we want to really support sustainable development, we should not just think about it, but also apply experts and enterprises to practice. Only in this way can we really go out of a sustainable road of wool development.
