Bangladesh Hopes New Eur4m Plan To Promote Garment Industry Development

    2011/6/8 11:07:00 36

    Eur4m Clothing Industry In Bangladesh

According to official statistics, Bangladesh ranked fourth in the world's apparel exports, with a total export earnings of US $13 billion 200 million between July 2010 and March 2011. But the importance of the garment industry to Bangladesh is much more important than it looks like: because the profit of 13 billion 200 million dollars is accounted for. Bengal 80% of the total exports, and 5 million of Bangladesh are employed in the garment industry.

Most of them are funded by the European Union (EU) and partially funded by the Norway aid development agency NORAD (TheNorwegianAgencyforDevelopmentCooperation), and entrusted with the new EUR4m plan implemented by the UnitedNationsIndustrialDevelopmentOrganization (UNIDO) to build an important future for the establishment of a stronger and diversified industry.

The targeted, broad and ambitious Bangladesh textile and garment quality work programme (TheBetterWorkinTextilesandGarments, BWTG) is a sub implementation of the EUR4m plan. Its executive units and Bangladesh government recognize Bangladesh clothing industry is still too dependent on the sale of mid and low end products, and the problem of product quality means a high rate of delivery.

In addition, it has been pointed out that Bangladesh suffers from a sense of powerlessness in the demand for modern fast apparel industry, which is unable to cope with a small number of orders and shorter delivery times.

According to EU's recommendation, the EU market is EUR4m The main objective of the project is to improve product quality, increase productivity, enhance product value and provide better employment prospects for Bangladeshi workers.

The plan has detected Bangladesh's shortage of skilled workers and executives, which means that Bangladesh relies heavily on hiring foreign staff to fill the shortage of its skilled workers. Therefore, the plan will reach 5 textile colleges and 6 vocational training centers, complete the training of 1000 qualified managers and supervisors, and develop 5000 designers and technicians.

To improve the quality of work in many textile and garment factories in Bangladesh and provide better employment prospects and working conditions for Bangladeshi workers, it is only part of the expectations of the broad objectives of the EUR4m plan.

The plan is expected to reach 20% of textile enterprises in Bangladesh by 2014, which can directly deal with foreign buyers, provide quick response services and / or add new products, or create brands instead of relying on external help. It is considered essential that new independent spirit be developed for the Bangladesh garment industry that sells its products almost exclusively by third-party agents and intermediaries.

The plan hopes to provide more direct participation. Contract negotiation And opportunities for product development can slowly replace Bangladesh's practices.

The EUR4m plan means a comprehensive strategy to help revitalize and expand the Bangladesh garment industry so that the garment industry will become a key player in the overall prosperity of Bangladesh.

If the objectives of the plan are achieved, especially in terms of providing vocational training and better employment conditions, BWTG will help build a bigger, more efficient and competitive clothing industry based on the major resources of Bangladesh: large labor force.
