The Inspiration Of Nan Yi Students' Costume Design From Russia To Forensic Science

    Inspiration From Fashion Design

3 students from Nanyi fashion department successfully entered the semi-finals of the Star Creation costume design competition with unique creativity. What are the ingenuity of their works?

    Interpretation of brand new grip

Lillian Glass, a body language expert, saw pictures of Prada's 2011 Autumn Winter Conference, saying: "the way they pack is like holding a pet dog!"

Because models hold their handbags to their bosom as if they are soft and warm.

Prada is not the only way to show off this package in such an exaggerated and fresh way. This is the reason why Ms. Glass, a communication expert and media member, came to understand the information behind this phenomenon.

First of all, she thinks Prada ladies are so close with their handbags because "bags are not only a accessory -- but an important part of our lives."

That is to say, "my bag is inextricably linked to me: computers, cell phones, iPad, water, energy bars, keys, purses, personal belongings and fitness supplies are all inside!"

You want to be closer to your bag, because it embraces your life, embracing your bag and embracing life.

But at the Celine press conference, the model did not carry the handle but dragged the bottom of the handbag. Glass said: "from this way of taking bags, in modern society, women have too much to carry, just like an office in the bag, and the handle is heavy, and the new way of taking bags is more practical and graceful."

For Marc Jacobs's Louis Vuitton show, those well-defined handbags are also the focus of the conference, but why are some models handcuffed and carrying handbags?

Glass believes that it has nothing to do with handbags, but about security and protection, and fear of crime.

Despite the tense expression, "the hands behind it show great confidence and sense of security," Glass said.

"Carrying a handbag on the back may be a new gesture of showing off fashion. It also shows confidence and self affirmation.

When you put your hands behind you, you can't hide them.

At the same time, the handbag is self-contained without having to compete with clothes for attention.

The "Star Creation costume design competition", organized by Singapore textile and Apparel Association (TaFf), aims to explore and cultivate Asian fashion designers.

This year's competition has received 144 entries from all over Asia this year. 3 winners were selected on May 11th Audi Fashion Festival. They are Singapore's Cai Minghong, China's Chen Zhigang, and Cheng Wen Zhong of Malaysia.

They get 10 thousand yuan in cash and a year of practice in FJ Benjamin, a clothing retailer, and have the opportunity to launch their own clothing brand series next year.

The 3 students from Nanyang art college, though not awarded, have entered the semi-finals with their unique ideas.

    Liang Ben Jie

    Strong Russian color

Liang Benjie, 20, is the youngest contestant in the finalist fashion design competition this year. The theme of the costume is "From Russia with love". The shaft shaped raw silk cotton blouse matches the NISSE's pleats skirt with a strong Russian color.

He said: "I am very interested in Russian folklore. Apart from these legends, I also have reference to Russian history, architectural design and traditional costumes.

Nowadays many people's clothing design has Chinese or India characteristics, but not many people have incorporated Russian elements into costume design, so I would like to try in this area.

    Cheryl Chan

    Forensic Science

Another contestant Chen Xueer's design theme is "Grey Area", inspired by a forensic science documentary that he likes watching at ordinary times.

"The forensic process is like a puzzle," said Chen Xueer, 21. "A forensic expert has to link up all the clues of the case to break the case.

When I was designing clothes, I used different edges, cloth and tailoring techniques to make up the clothes, which is very similar to the authentication process.

Chen Xueer's white cotton suede jacket and cotton twill trousers are comfortable and light to wear. It's very suitable for the hot weather in Singapore.

    Anindya Intan

    Change customer satisfaction

The third contestant is Anindya Intan, whose theme is "Scout Honour".

Anindya said that when she was a girl scout, she appreciated the values of self-reliance and helping people advocated by scouts, so she wanted to integrate these ideas into the design.

The 22 year old Indonesian overseas student said, "the clothes I designed can vary a lot. Coats can be turned into long skirts and there are 4 ways to wear them.

I think this suit is suitable for formal or casual occasions, and also suitable for all seasons. This is designed to make customers feel value for money. "

The three of them did not win the game at the end, but they all said they had learned a lot from the competition.

Liang Benjie said: "this competition has made me know more about the clothing design industry in this region. The design of some areas is indeed better than ours, and I have benefited greatly."

Chen Xueer shared the same view with Liang Benjie. She said, "after comparing with other countries' competitors, I know where my design level is.

Seeing foreign excellent costume design can inspire and promote me to design better clothing works.

The rise of Asia brings unlimited business opportunities. Three young fashion designers are full of vision for their future after graduation.

Liang Benjie said: "although the development of Asian clothing design is slower than that of Europe and America, there are many exquisite traditional handicrafts in Asia, which can be used in clothing design."

Anindya Intan added: "now many Asian fashion designers integrate traditional Asian elements with western design, so I believe that the clothes designed by Asians will be popular all over the world in the future."
