My inspiration comes from many sources, one of which is Versace.

I have an elder sister working in a hair salon. When I was four or five years old, my father died.

My mother and my 8 sisters live together.

These 9 incredible women are somewhat "Donatella Versace".

They are really strong women from southern Italy and are absolutely sexy women.

Their bodies and their sexuality are full of confidence.

DV: I found out that 8 sisters are really very happy.

RT: of course.

Moreover, even though they do not have enough money to make themselves fashionable, they are still elegant women.

The elegance of the south is very strong and elegant, and it is one of the elements that I bring.

This is sexy elegance - or at least, we say it is not so simple.

Do you still have that kind of enthusiasm?

Or are you used to this kind of enthusiasm?

RT: I must tell the truth: I believe that my greatest strength comes from my family.

For me, family doesn't just mean DNA.

I mean, family means brothers and sisters.

My mother and my sisters are the energy and Inspiration of my life.

For me, fashion is a job and I love it. This is my passion.

But in short, the most important thing for me is life.

I was lucky.

Since I was a child, I have always been surrounded by women. I am very fascinated by the female world, because I like this power and romanticism, and finally, you can find these in my style.

DV: I can see that your clothing reflects your understanding of the female body.

RT: Imagine all these sisters, 8 women of different shapes and lifestyles, so my way of life is very strange.

Even at the beginning of Givenchy, though not everyone liked me, there must be someone to support me.

They said, "why do Italians want to fiddle with Gothic?"

They do not think that Italians are one of the main participants in Gothic art in the world.

They said, "no, Italians should only do sexy things!"

Sex is a wonderful thing I have experienced, but it is very slow in my fashion.

What I do is emotional.

For me, there is a foundation, that is, the root of my Italy.

This is a strong passion for fashion, a passion for sex and dressing.

Then I went to England, and to Saint Martin, I received a positive trauma, the feeling of treason and darkness in England.

Then I went to Paris to do fashion design. Everyone said it was the ultimate goal, but for me, it was a mixture of all kinds of ingredients at last.

DV: when I worked with Jenny Versace at the end of his life, I was the one who could trust and tell anything.

If there's anything I don't like, I will honestly say, "no, no, no!"

Do you have such a person in your team?

RT: of course.

This is super important.

Even if I do not have a very large team, the word "contemplation" may be out of date for me.

For a designer, especially a male designer, he absolutely needs a woman's voice around him, listening, filtering, and digesting.

This is a great need, because when you look at a man's eyes, you will see a woman and how they play with their little tricks.

As I said before, my luck has always come from having a family surrounded by women, and I now have a woman who is very close to me.

Yes, some people respect me very much and want to hear their opinions first, but this is my way.

Maybe this is because I am 36 years old, and for a period of time, I will let go a little.

It's hard for me to delegate. I do listen to two or three people in the group.

DV: you are not likely to let go. I know your personality.

RT: This is very difficult, because I am a typical southern Italy.

I am proud of that.

I design everything with my incredible little team, and I design the appearance.

For example, people always comment on me like this: "when you design men's shirts, you always bring them closer to the fashion show."

This is my stuff, you know.

I will listen to some opinions, because this is very important to me.

I am also a Leo, so I have my feet on the ground, I know what I want, but I also have a weak side, still like a little boy who has not yet grown up, and needs to hear a lot of words.

DV: I want to make some notes. The pparent shirt on the show is very remarkable this year.

RT: Donatella, you are a Givenchy woman!

I say this because I want the whole world to know that for me, from an aesthetic point of view, you represent Italy women.

There are always American rock, aristocratic and above all English styles, but Italy is their core.

In fact, you and I have tried many times to cooperate.

I really want to see your appearance in Givenchy costume.

DV: Americans like you very much, but I find that you are not an American person.

You are more like the Europeans, especially the Italians.

RT: I am a super Italian, not even Europe, Italian.

You know, as a creative thinker, you must examine every day who you are.

I am very attractive to Americans.

Why?

As a child from southern Italy, the family is not rich. It is my dream to go to New York.

DV: your last clothing series left me a very strong emotional impact.

It is very beautiful, fashionable, super cool, but it is also produced by a great fashion designer.

RT: when I started, everyone said that fashion was over. I was so scared.

In fact, it is more intimidation than fear.

I'm from remote areas of Italy.

They asked me to go to Givenchy, I was just thinking, wow!

The first thing I did was sign.

But I must be sincere. I did it because my mother left our home, which made me very depressed.

As the only man in my family, I said, "no, I can't let this happen."

So I accepted the job because I wanted to buy a house for my mother.

I started working at Givenchy, and the entire fashion world was saying, "fashion is over."

No, fashion is not over yet.

Fashion has begun to change, thank goodness.

DV: I agree with you.

RT: my first stage is fashion.

It has changed because women have changed.

Back to the age of princess.

Today, there are still princesses, but she no longer rode around on horses or carriages.

She took part in the party. She went on holiday and took a boat.

She wants to be energetic.

I understand this, so I keep on working hard.

We make ready-made clothes, men's wear and women's wear.

When you do these things, you want to be different.

Finally, all these women who are the same age as my mother come to sew and embroider. They are all seventy or eighty years old and have been here for the rest of their lives.

They spend time on it and propose solutions.

And because it is on the fashion show, people can see it for 5 seconds, or even fail to see the art, and can not see the cloth.

So I followed Versace to do this - to do what you did, and I was ready to take the lead in fashion.

DV: it's better to do less and better because now people can see closely what we do.

And in your 2011 spring summer fashion series, I found that you are a genius.

RT: in the fashion world, I do show my romantic side. Although most people think I am more like a "Luo Wei Na", I have a very romantic side, only to a small number of people.

In my opinion, your 2011/2012 autumn winter dress is very much like Jenny Versace.

RT: you're not the first person to tell me that.

Many people tell me this.

Many children are fascinated by robots and Bobbi dolls.

I am fascinated by Versace as a child.

I used to frugally buy a Versace shirt.

I am so fascinated!

I am still a Versace fan today.

In fact, the only fashion show I ever had in my life was for Versace. When I went to the men's wear conference, you invited me, which made me very happy.

If I'm still in fashion, it's definitely because there are some designers I admire - not because I don't like other designers or other bad things, but because I'm very selective.

I adore Versace, and I also admire the brand of Helmut Ron (Helmut Lang), though it has gone bankrupt.

DV: now I want to ask you, do you have any new ideas about Givenchy, or do you have any new ideas for Ricardo?
