British Media: Western Brands Indirectly Pollute China'S Rivers

According to the latest findings of Greenpeace, a family of Nike , Adidas , Puma And other famous brand Chinese enterprises supplying materials continue to interfere with endocrine system in China's main drainage systems and affect environmental hormone substances in reproductive system, which raises doubts about the joint responsibility of these enterprises.

The crocodile, H&M and 6 other international clothing brands have been linked to toxic textile mills in the Yangtze River and the Pearl River Delta, although many alleged businesses have set high environmental standards for their supply chain, the group also said. These statements were made after a series of high-profile pollution scandals in Chinese enterprises that supplied multinationals.

Chinese environmentalists say these events highlight the hypocrisy of Western outsourcing companies, who promise high security standards to their wealthy customers while trading with companies that are benefiting from loose environmental requirements overseas.

In the 1 years of Greenpeace's survey of China's textile industry, various pollutants have been found in the sewage from two large factories located in Ningbo and Zhongshan. Greenpeace said that Nike, Adidas, Puma and H&M have confirmed commercial relations with polluting enterprises, but they all denied using the wet processing equipment of the plant, which could lead to sewage disposal in the river.

China has become the world's largest textile exporter since 1995, but the industry has also had a huge impact on China's economy and environment. Many foreign companies complain privately that environmental protection organizations demand more environmental standards than their counterparts in China, thereby damaging their competitiveness. Environmental activists responded that big companies benefit from their brand reputation and are more responsible for setting a positive example.
