It involves imported and locally produced dyed yarns, dyed cotton fabrics, garments, bedding and carpets.

It mainly relates to the lead content of children's clothing should not exceed 300ppm, prohibit the use of 23 azo dyes and 9 other carcinogenic dyes. The formaldehyde content of infant clothing is not higher than 20ppm, and the formaldehyde content of adults directly contact skin clothing is not more than 75ppm. The formaldehyde content of non direct contact with skin clothing should not exceed 300ppm.

Prior to that, Egypt set up requirements for safety, hygiene and environmental protection for textile and clothing, including lead, azo dyes and formaldehyde.

In response, the relevant ministries and commissions recommended that the inspection and quarantine departments should respond well.
