The office understands that from today on, the free trade area agreement signed between China and Costa Rica has been put into effect.

According to the agreement, China and Costa Rica will carry out tariff reductions to zero tariffs in six phases for more than 90% of their trade products, of which more than 6 of the first category products will be subject to zero tariff immediately after the implementation of the agreement, and import duties of second to four products will fall to zero in stages 5, 10 and 15 years after the agreement comes into effect.

Import and export

The amount exceeds US $1 billion 200 million, of which China's exports to Costa Rica are nearly US $1 billion, up 37% from the same period last year, accounting for about 7% of the total imports of Costa Rica.

It is understood that the export of Costa Rica products to the inspection and quarantine departments issued by the "Sino elder brother FTA preferential certificate of origin" can enjoy Costa Rica's zero tariff treatment.

The first category mainly includes organic chemicals, inorganic chemicals, jewellery diamonds, precious metal products, jewelry and other products.

For the certificate of origin, the exporters may apply to the local inspection and quarantine department.

Entry

The head of the Shishi Office of the inspection and Quarantine Bureau told reporters that since the beginning of this year, the commodities sold by the Shishi area were exported to Costa Rica in the 9 batch and 395 thousand US dollars. The main goods include clothing, 4A zeolite and so on.

According to the agreement, the main products exported to the country are products of mechanical and electrical products, footwear, textiles, tires and so on, which will be directly benefited.
