African Cotton: Favorite Of Vietnamese Textile Producers

African cotton has become a priority for Vietnamese textile producers because of its superior quality.

In a seminar organized by the Vietnam textile and Apparel Association, the Ministry of industry and trade, the Vietnam Cotton Textile Association and the international trade center, Mr Li said that Vietnam's textile producers were prepared to increase their imports of cotton from African countries.

In 2010, Vietnam imported 357 thousand and 300 tons of cotton from India, the United States, Africa and many other countries.

However, cotton imports from African countries can best meet the requirements of domestic industry, said Li De Jiang.

HoThiKimThoa, Vice Minister of Vietnam's Ministry of trade and industry, said that there has been an objective growth in the bilateral trade between African countries and Vietnam in the past few years, but there is still a huge increase.

The purpose of this seminar is to increase exports of cotton to Vietnam from East African and South African countries.

This conference will help to better publicize information related to cotton production and market and develop direct links between Vietnamese companies and their African partners.

Last year, Vietnam imported 47659 tons of cotton from African countries, with an import volume of US $193 million 860 thousand.

Imports of cotton from South Africa reached 16768 tons and imports amounted to US $68 million 860 thousand.

Vietnamese producers need to import cotton from Africa through intermediaries, which brings many problems to importers and exporters, and even leads to an increase in import costs.
