WAL-MART Closes New York Fashion Apparel Purchasing Office

Wal-Mart
The company announced Wednesday that the company has closed its clothing procurement office in New York and integrated the business into its headquarters in Benton Ville, Arkansas.
Reported that this is WAL-MART's attempt to provide customers with more fashionable clothing products after the failure of the plan adjustment.
strategy
Part of it.
As the largest retailer in the world, WAL-MART entered Broadway in 2009 and was set up in the fashion commodity center of Manhattan, New York.
Purchase
The office is trying to provide more and more fashionable clothing choices to tens of millions of customers who are shopping at its discount stores to further expand the company's business scope.
However, this approach has not been welcomed by WAL-MART's main customers. WAL-MART then revised the strategy and shifted its focus to the basic commodity category.
"In view of our core strategy in basic commodities and fashion goods, we do not need to keep a New York office," Andy Barron, executive vice president of WAL-MART light industrial products, said in a staff memorandum on Wednesday. "In view of our core strategy in basic commodities and fashion goods," Andy Baron said.
In this email, he pointed out that "at the same time, about 40% of the clothing planning, replenish and modular implementation business is in bentenville headquarters.
It is also a reasonable choice to merge fashion clothes into the same place.
The report also pointed out that although WAL-MART has turned the focus back to basic clothing, and has also promoted some businesses, the overall sales volume of clothing has declined.
"We are very, very focused, and have made progress in categories such as basic clothing, socks, underwear, jeans and tops," said Duncan McNaughton, chief purchasing officer of Duncan Mac Naughton at an analyst conference earlier this month.
This is our brand image and the territory we want to uphold. "
WAL-MART said most of the 275 employees in the New York office would be moved to Benton Ville headquarters and resumed work at the company headquarters by February 2012.
