Can Sarah&Nbsp, Burton Continue To Write The Myth Of Mcqueen Design?
At the beginning of last year, after Lee Alexander McQueen committed suicide in her apartment, Sarah Burton was appointed the creative director of Alexander McQueen brand.
While we are still sorry for the young and individualistic British designer, Gareth Pugh, who is unable to succeed, worried that the brand can not extend the spirit of the high fashion, Sarah used two wedding shows and a British Princess's wedding dress to dispel worries.

I am more sunny than him.
Since the appointment of the creative director of the British fashion brand in May last year, this smart and enthusiastic woman has interviewed many times. Sarah Burton gives me the impression in these interviews: a person with many stories to tell.
In the background of Paris clothing week Alexander McQueen, I caught Sarah, and she was resting on a pile of clutter boxes. She was surprisingly approachable for my conversation. If there were not enough assistants to come up with trivial details during the conversation, it was hard to imagine that this gentle and eloquent woman really is the Sarah Burton of today's "fried chicken".
Compared with the clothes she made, which can match the advanced custom made garments, she is as plain as a simple girl from the English countryside.
Speaking of last October 5th, which was the most popular debut of Paris fashion week, she smiled shyly and bowed her head and brushed the sleeves of a black cotton shirt with slightly floating dust. "At that time, I didn't think it was necessary to adulterate too much anxiety. I wanted to make it softer, because I was more sunny than Alexander."
She said thoughtfully, "the essence of the brand will certainly be carried out all the time, but I am a woman, and of course I may also inject more feminine views into it."
There are always some elements in the dark atmosphere, otherwise you can't really appreciate the contrast side. The training I received is dull and grey, but it's not necessary. I'm more myself.
Speaking of McQueen himself, Sarah was addicted to the past time. "His inspiration can come from anywhere. Alexander expresses his feeling. He is a storytelling person, and his personal characteristics come from the bottom of his heart."
And Sarah's passion for handcraft details is no less than that of McQueen. She explains that their clothing is usually made of paper first, and then repeatedly tries to figure out whether the patterns match with the tailoring. Some of the paper clothes are made according to the sizes of small models. She graciously calls them "paper dolls".
"Alexander works in three dimensions, so you must have the ability to teach me how to design."
She said excitedly.
"Usually, he picks up a piece of fabric, draws a cut chart of his trousers, and then cuts, cuts, and splits together."
According to Sarah, McQueen has left behind not only the many outstanding works he has designed, but also an excellent production team, who have made great contributions to the McQueen fashion dream.
"I learned from Alexander very early in my life that nothing is absolutely impossible."
"We have broken through so many hardships," she said.
Sarah Burton was recommended by a mentor before graduating from Saint Martin. She got an internship opportunity at McQueen, which was the moment when McQueen was about to explode London Fashion in 1996.
However, Sarah recalled that McQueen was also stationed in the basement of a very ordinary building in the eastern part of London, where the creative team was small.
"Alexander almost takes everything: fabric selection, cutting patterns...
I remember he taught me how to sew zippers into clothes.
For a small fund - tight small company at the time of McQueen, a contract to get Givenchy was a gift.
Sarah smiles and tug at the trouser legs of blue jeans, reflecting on the scene. "The next big thing is that we finally have the central heating system, and the height of my chair is finally able to match the height of the table."
Work has been busy since then.
In 1997, Sarah graduated from school immediately and was hired by McQueen. The content of her design work continued to increase, and finally extended to men's wear and accessories.
She sighed: "we are like a big family. Work is so passionate. There is really no hierarchy. There is really no hierarchy in my life. What I like most about Alexander is that he allows you to have creative freedom. For me, this is what team work is all about."
But for McQueen's amazing show, Sarah is not going to go the same way: "this is more Alexander personal area, and in this respect, I can't try to turn myself into him."
Sarah is rather shy. She is very satisfied with the background that she had hidden in other people's back. She didn't need to be in a state of showing off. When McQueen just killed herself, she was not willing to take up the post. But considering the dream of McQueen, she hoped to continue to carry forward the brand.
For the future development of brand accessories, she thinks the prospect is broad, and the McQ is also true.
Sarah also intends to further consolidate the position of the brand's flagship series, because it is "like the jewels on the crown, which must be beautiful and precious."
Therefore, she attaches great importance to custom-made design clothing for private customers.
Sarah calls herself a workaholic, and even her hobby is Alexander McQueen brand.
In her spare time, she likes to see art exhibitions as a pastime, especially in photography exhibitions, and reading is also one of them.
For McQueen, who is often regarded as relying on gorgeous fashion shows and making a grab for the crowd, Sarah is very emotional. She hopes to correct this unjust view, because this is the main purpose of McQueen design. "Design must make you feel everything. Alexander has done so many fashion shows, many excellent works are usually worn, but why do not you think so?
It seems to be a mystery. "
Sarah compares her faith and loyalty to Alexander McQueen brand as if it were a marriage. Her husband is a photographer named David.
"He is a very lovely man. His mind is always changing.
He is very important to me.
Although I always felt that I was protecting him, I feel that he is protecting me now.
Well, Alexander McQueen feels the same way. "
