According to the Nantong inspection and Quarantine Bureau, in January this year, the total number of garments exported to China was 6250 batches and 30 million 814 thousand and 300 pieces, with a value of 213 million US dollars, down 26.09%, 24.27% and 20.80% respectively.

Insiders pointed out that the predicament of clothing export in our city has already appeared since last year.

Last year, the clothing export of our city has been faced with many unfavorable factors, such as high cost of manpower, raw material prices fluctuating, traditional European and American markets, and so on. The export volume of the whole year has dropped by 6.13% compared with the previous year.

However, due to the increase in export unit price, the total value of garment exports still increased slightly.

However, with the further downturn in the European and American markets, the resistance of our garment exports will continue to increase, and the foreign trade situation is likely to deteriorate further.
