Zhanhua Builds State-Level High Quality Cotton Production Demonstration Base

Recently, from the Provincial Department of agriculture, Zhanhua county has been approved as the national high quality cotton production demonstration base project county. The total investment of the project is 4 million 640 thousand yuan, including 3 million 100 thousand yuan of state free funds, 1 million 540 thousand yuan of local matching funds and 10 thousand mu of the project area. Relying on the village cotton fields such as Feng Jia town, Tai Liu, Zhuang Ke and Nan Jiao, the national grade cotton production demonstration base is built.

Zhanhua county is a large cotton growing County in Shandong province. The annual cotton planting area is around 500 thousand mu. The cotton industry has become one of the leading industries in the county and an important source of farmers' income. The county has been included in the national high quality cotton production demonstration base construction project with good cotton industry foundation and perfect cotton field scientific management system.

It is understood that the project is market-oriented, with users as the terminal, in the project area villages and towns to set up technical service points, through orders, forming a supply chain, technical services, recovery of seed cotton integration of the industrial chain. The demonstration, breeding and extension of new cotton varieties with special quality and advanced cotton planting technology can increase the output of cotton growers per mu by 10%-15% in the project area. According to the calculation, the income per mu can be increased by 150 yuan for the masses.

After the completion of the project, the average yield per mu of the 10 thousand mu high quality cotton production demonstration base was 93 kg, and the average yield of lint 8 kg per mu was higher than that of the previous three years. Among them, 30 mu of new cotton variety (Department) observation field, through the planting identification, 1-3 varieties (lines) with high resistance to yield were selected; 100 mu new varieties (Department) display fields, the selected varieties (lines) selected from the observation field; the 1000 mu high yield demonstration party, and the seeds planted in recent years were selected through the test and demonstration.

After the completion of the project, it can radiate the quality cotton production in the county and surrounding counties, raise the cotton planting level and output of cotton farmers. The demonstration cotton seeds can extend the area of 700 thousand mu, increase more than 5% of the cotton and increase the income of cotton farmers.
