China Cotton City Xinjiang Awati Set Up The First Long Staple Cotton Research And Development Center

The R & D center was formally established in Awati in May 14th.

Awati county is rich in light and hot water and soil resources. It is a typical high yield and quality cotton planting area in China. It is especially suitable for developing long staple cotton. It has been known as "China Cotton City" and "China's long staple cotton town". It is also a national high quality commodity cotton base county, a cotton high quality and high yield demonstration area and a Xinjiang regional seed breeding base.

In Awati County, the annual cotton planting area is stable at about 1 million 150 thousand mu, including 900 thousand acres of long staple cotton, 250 thousand mu of upland cotton, and 110 thousand tons of cotton. The yield of long staple cotton accounts for about 70% of the total staple cotton in the whole country.
