What is rayon:

Artificial cotton is the common name of cotton type artificial staple fiber, which is a kind of cotton type viscose staple fiber made by chemical processing of natural macromolecular compounds such as cellulose or protein. Its specification is similar to that of cotton fiber, and its length is generally 35mm. It can be pure spun on a cotton spinning machine, or blended with cotton or cotton type synthetic fibers (such as polyester, nylon, etc.).

Composition of rayon:

Viscose fiber is a kind of fibrous material obtained by treating cellulose rich substances such as plant straw and cotton linter with sodium hydroxide and carbon disulfide. The long fibers in viscose fibers are commonly called rayon, and the short fibers are commonly called rayon.

Features of rayon:

Rayon is characterized by good dyeability, high brightness and fastness, comfortable wearing, resistance to dilute alkali, and moisture absorption close to that of cotton. The disadvantages are acid resistance, poor resilience and fatigue resistance, and low wet mechanical strength. Rayon can be pure spun or blended with polyester and other chemical fibers.

Difference between pure cotton and rayon:

Both cotton and artificial cotton are cellulose, which is the same as starch in composition but has a larger molecular weight. Rayon is made by dissolving cellulose in solvent and then ejecting it from a very thin nozzle to form filaments, similar to spider silk drawing. Therefore, it is impossible to distinguish the use of burning, mainly by hand feeling. The rayon should be smoother and have a better draping feel.
