Clothing Common Sense: Be Cautious In Dry Cleaning Of Clothes; General Knowledge Of Decontamination Of Fashionable Clothes
1. What is Clothing dry cleaning ?
Professional washing can be divided into three categories: dry cleaning, wet cleaning and water washing. Dry cleaning is not dry cleaning, but the use of organic solvents to remove dirt on clothes. It is called dry cleaning because the solvent used for washing does not contain or only contains a little water, which will not occur such things as water penetrating into fabric fibers.
One of the biggest advantages of dry cleaning is that dry cleaning oil can remove grease and dirt on clothes; Water washing is not. Natural fiber fabrics, such as woolen sweaters and silk garments, have a very good dry cleaning effect, while such fabrics may shrink, wrinkle, fade, etc. when sent to water for washing. The dry cleaning effect of synthetic fiber fabrics, such as polyester fiber, is still very good, but water washing cannot remove the oily dirt on such fabrics. Dry cleaning can help a fabric return to the "flat as new" state, as long as the laundry has taken a series of measures in advance to prevent shrinking, fading and fiber deformation.
The dry cleaning process starts from the pre stain treatment with a special dry cleaning stain remover. Then the clothes are put into the dry cleaning machine for dry cleaning. The dry cleaning machine is like an enlarged home front loading washing machine. It will also loosen the dirt firmly embedded in the fabric through mechanical action. During the dry cleaning process, the solvent is continuously filtered and distilled to ensure its transparency.
Today, most (almost 90%) dry cleaners use tetrachloroethylene as solvent, which is commonly called "dry cleaning oil". This is because this solvent is more practical than other dry cleaning solvents, and can be effectively recycled.
2. Will frequent dry cleaning shorten the life of clothes?
On the contrary, frequent washing will only prolong the life of clothes. Not only is the stain on the clothes long enough to affect their life span; And once the clothes are stained with fine dust and other small particles of dirt, they will become like sandpaper and quickly wear the fabric fibers. In addition, spores and other bacteria attached to the dust will further damage the clothes.
3. When a garment is marked "washable", does it mean that it cannot be dry cleaned?
Not exactly. Because the clothing maintenance labeling method clearly stipulates that at least one appropriate maintenance method should be indicated. The laundry usually follows the instructions on the label, unless the customer requests another washing method. If you ask the laundry to dry clean a piece of clothes marked "washable", the laundry will ask you to sign a document similar to a "guarantee", because you ask for dry cleaning.
4. Will dry cleaning shrink the clothes?
No. The whole dry cleaning process is strictly controlled by professionals. Excessive shrinkage is generally caused by the manufacturer's improper pre shrinking treatment.
5. Can clean clothes be stored in plastic bags?
Plastic bags are designed to keep you clean when you take them home from the laundry. But it is better not to add bags when storing.
6. Why do clothes blister after dry cleaning?
The laundry often receives such complaints in the process of operation, saying that the dry cleaning has blistered the user's clothes. In fact, such complaints are incorrect, and the user should complain to the manufacturer rather than the laundry.
One process in the manufacturing of suits is to add lining to the fabric, which is mostly used at present Adhesive lining The surface of the lining is coated with a layer of glue, which can only be melted at high temperature. In the bonding machine, the lining will be firmly bonded to the fabric under high temperature and pressure. In this case, dry cleaning will not open the glue and bubble. However, at present, many small garment factories do not have a bonding machine, but use irons for manual bonding. Regardless of the temperature and pressure, they cannot meet the requirements, and they are uneven, so they blister once washed. In this case, it can be solved by injecting glue into the needle, but the same problem will be encountered in the next washing. However, it must be noted that for clothes made according to the standard garment making procedures, washing may cause blistering.
7. What should you do if clothes are stained?
To help the laundry get rid of stains better, you should:
Never leave a stain on your clothes unattended. Too hot wardrobe, exposed to the sun or strong light will make stains become more solid.
After you get stains, you should send them to the laundry as soon as possible. If you put them in the laundry for more than one day, you will be in danger of losing them.
Never iron clothes with stains or dust. This will make stains and dust firmly embedded in the fiber, which should be well cleaned before ironing.
When removing stains at home, do not use water or detergent to remove stains without fading test. You can dip the inside of the wet clothes, such as the inside of the binding edge, and use paper to test whether the stain will fade.
Never rub clothes, especially when trying to remove stains on silk. You can use a dry towel or paper towel to absorb the exuded stains, which will help remove the stains without spreading them and prevent damage to the fabric fibers.
Tell the laundry where the stain is and what you did when removing it. You should do this even if the stain has become so inconspicuous that you can hardly see it when it is delivered to the laundry.
8. The laundry can do nothing
Even the best laundry will be powerless to:
Remove all stains. The characteristics of stains on clothes and the length of time they are stained, together with the color of fabrics and the structure of fibers, sometimes make certain stains impossible to remove.
Prevent some colors from falling off or fading. If the manufacturer has not thoroughly tested whether the dye will not fade in solvent and water, some colors will fall off during washing.
Prevent excessive shrinkage. If manufacturers do not properly pre shrink each part of the garment before making it, shrinkage accidents may occur.
Wearing wear, sweat, insect erosion or some stains will cause damage to some parts of the clothing. These vulnerable parts will not be exposed before dry cleaning. Once washed, holes or cracks may appear. This is mainly because some fibers have become very fragile before washing.
It is common in woolen clothing to eliminate local brightness caused by wear, overheating, ironing, etc.
Correct the adverse consequences caused by the wrong stain removal method at home. This includes fading caused by excessive rubbing of soft fabrics, or color reaction caused by rinsing stain remover or fabric breakage.
9. Common sense of clothing maintenance
Please take your clothes to the laundry as soon as you get stains on them. If the stain stays on the clothes for too long, it will not be removed. It will also shorten the life of clothes.
Take a few minutes to discuss how to remove stains with the laundry. In particular, tell the laundry about some light colored or invisible splashes, such as soft drinks, fruit juice or white wine. In addition, tell the laundry what kind of drinks or soup they are stained with. Only in this way can operators effectively deal with stains before dry cleaning.
Do not put perfume, shampoo, deodorant, antiperspirant and some toilet articles on your clothes. Such things may contain alcohol, which can affect the function of some dyes. Do not wear clothes until the perfume is dry.
Don't let your clothes be stained with too much sweat, especially for silk clothes. Sweat stains left on clothes will cause fiber discoloration.
Wash the matching fabrics together, so that the fading of these fabrics will be consistent, and the color will still be very harmonious, including the bedspread and sheets.
Don't take your clothes Expose to the sun for a long time, and do not bake in strong light. Remember that even normal light can affect the stability of some dyes.
Do not iron the stains on your clothes. Heating will only make them stronger.
