Kampuchea Successfully Held Fifteenth ASEAN And China Japan ROK Economic And Trade Ministers' Meeting

On the afternoon of August 29th, the fifteenth ASEAN and China, Japan and South Korea (10+3)

In Siem Reap, Kampuchea, the economic and trade ministers from the 10 ASEAN countries and 3 countries of China, Japan and South Korea attended the meeting.

The meeting was co chaired by the rotating presidency of the ASEAN economic ministers' conference, the Minister of state affairs and Commerce of Kampuchea, and Pu Taihao, Minister of Commerce of China, Chen Deming, Japanese Minister of economic industry, and Eno Yukio, Minister of Commerce and trade of Korea.

Chen Deming said at the meeting that the 10+3 cooperation mechanism has played an important role in promoting East Asian solidarity and cooperation, deepening regional economic integration and expanding common development space in the past 15 years.

In 2011, the total volume of trade between China and ASEAN, Japan and Korea accounted for China.

26% of the total, ASEAN and Japan and Korea account for 13.7% of China's total foreign investment.

Chen Deming said that China attaches great importance to economic and trade cooperation with 10+3 members and is willing to actively participate in and promote regional economic cooperation in East Asia on the basis of the principle of "equality consultation, mutual benefit and win-win progress, gradual progress, openness and inclusiveness", so as to contribute to regional economic development and common prosperity of East Asian countries.

The three sides of China, Japan and South Korea have reached a consensus on the negotiations on the China Japan ROK free trade zone during the year. The three party working layer should continue to push forward consultations, so as to prepare for the launching of negotiations during the November East Asian leaders' series meeting.

One of the most important, most mature and effective cooperation mechanisms will continue to play an active role in leading the region's economic development. It has indicated that it will announce the launch of the China Japan ROK Free Trade Zone negotiations as scheduled, and strive for a high level FTA agreement.

At the meeting, ministers attended the report of the East Asian Business Council and exchanged views on regional and global economic issues such as the implementation of the 2007-2017 ASEAN China Japan ROK cooperation plan, the second East Asia Outlook Group, the East Asian Free Trade Area, the progress of China, Japan and South Korea's FTA.

On the same day, Chen Deming also held bilateral talks with Park Tai Ho, exchanging views on the China South Korea Free Trade Area and the China Japan Korea free trade area.

Since the launch of the China South Korea Free Trade Zone in May 2012, the two sides have held three rounds of negotiations.

The two ministers expressed satisfaction with the negotiation process and agreed to further strengthen communication and strive to reach a high level, win-win and balance of interest free trade agreement at an early date.
