Dialogue Paris Lovers Designer: Imperfect Is The Most Beautiful.
Straight to the show: Inspiration from the Gypsies
Reporter: first, let me introduce the brand of Aganovich briefly.
Brook Taylor: first, let me introduce our fashion design team first. Our team is from different places, and everyone will work very creatively together. I am also a person of dual nationality. The concept of our team is to mix things together with a new visual impact. The show last night reflects the gypsy style. They roam around the world and live in a fixed place. We put this concept in the exhibition.
Reporter: why do we use many asymmetric elements to express what connotations?
Nana Aganovich: create a strong contrast effect through the use of structural asymmetrical elements.
Reporter: last night's show, there was a model with a clown face make-up. It was outstanding among many models. What kind of idea do you want to express?
Brook Taylor: actually, in all my works, a model will be more prominent. She will disguise herself as a clown. The first time I met Nana, she was dressed as a clown, including the shoes she wore today, all the clown shoes we produced. If you are careful, we also have a pair of clown shoes on the press conference, and there is also a little penguin on it, which is very cute.
In fact, the concept of clowns is the same origin as Gypsies. Many of the clowns I see are from Romania, who are wandering from this city to another city. Though they are poor, their clothes are made of very valuable cloth. They can not stack together with different colors, but create different visual effects for people. So today, we use the concept of clowns and Gypsies to convey a fresh sense of fashion to everyone.
Reporter: there was a bell in your show last night. Can you share with us the story?
Brook Taylor: actually, the bell you hear is not the clock, but we have specifically searched for a musician, recorded a bell in the church, and inserted it into the music of the show.
Reporter: is this concept of Gypsies and clowns the core concept of your brand?
Brook Taylor: in fact, it is not our core design concept. When we launch new works every season, we will adopt the very abstract concepts like clowns and bells. Let us recall that this is our brand.
Paris lovers designers talk about fashion
Reporter: so what is the soul and core of your brand?
Brook Taylor: I mainly used the elements of Futurism and architecture in the twentieth Century to make a sharp contrast. We are making Clowns' shoes, giving everyone a good reminder that nothing can be absolutely perfect. We always have imperfections and need to be improved.
Interviewer: what do you think is the difference between Hongkong fashion week and the four international fashion week?
Brook Taylor: for me, it's really not the same. The four fashion week has a very distinct personality. New York is a fashion show with strong commercial atmosphere and high tension. London attaches great importance to creativity and innovation; Paris, as a fashion capital, is the center of the world's fashion and the birthplace of fashion; Milan conveys the ultimate design of Italy and the ultimate trend of fashion. Besides, I haven't found any fashion week that has such a personality.
Hongkong fashion week, for its part, is also brilliant. It is Asia's largest fashion week.
Impression of Paris designer in China
Interviewer: what do you think of the difference between Asian and Hongkong girls and Paris girls?
Nana Aganovich: I find it hard to compare, because the major international fashion brands have penetrated into China, such as LV, Chanel [micro-blog] and so on. The influence is global, so Chinese girls do not dress differently from foreign countries. If Chinese designers break out of their own days and create different styles, they will have different styles of dress.
Reporter: have you ever heard of Chinese designers? Who do you admire?
Brook Taylor:, when it comes to Chinese designers, one of them likes it very much. She is Yiqing. She has won the best designer in Shanghai this year, and he has great design. In our view, she is such a person, half of her experience in China and half of her experience abroad. And many of the Chinese designers we know, though they say they are Chinese desiner, have overseas experiences, and even born and grow abroad. So far, I have not met anyone who really was born in China, grew up in China and focused on Chinese design.
Last night, the Hongkong reporter asked me a very interesting question. Do you think China has become a center of conceptual design? That's what I said. We can look at Japan, in fact, its innovation ability is very strong, and China is a very powerful potential country. It has such an influence.
Reporter: many Chinese designers have graduated from some foreign fashion design schools, and they have received education abroad. But how do you view their designs when they return home?
Brook Taylor: the designers you mentioned are strongly influenced by western aesthetics, and their mixed cultural backgrounds lead them to be mixed. But so far, we haven't seen them showing China's background. You know that when making clothes, France has a very complicated and highly sophisticated production process. When we make clothes, we will consider putting Chinese elements into our products, but so far, we have not seen Chinese designers opening their own roads and making their own characteristics.
Reporter: at present, there are many large brands of clothes entering China, and some stars will be called as endorsements. When Chinese famous stars wear them, they will have a great brand effect. Will you find such a star, or
Brook Taylor: to explain the brand development in another way, I saw a very interesting phenomenon in China. I think it is very important whether it is a big brand or a small brand. The connection between people is very important. For us, we now do not know much about celebrities and celebrity culture, but in the future, we will have every intention to develop every store, and the retail industry will be greatly changed.
Reporter: I know that when Nana first came to China, he opened a studio in Shanghai and later withdrew. Why?
Nana Aganovich: you're right. After I graduated from Saint Martin, I set up a studio with my best friend in Shanghai, but then we moved the studio to Shenzhen. For me, I didn't leave the studio, I would come to see it every few weeks or months.
